I'm thinking of buying a Lightning somewhere between now and January. I was going to just pick up a cheap one around the years 99-02' but I've been hearing something about the sprak plug threads on these years. The 99-02' has less threads while the newer 03-04's has like 3-4 more. I've also read it will cost some extra money down the road if you have a 99-02' Lightning because of this. Now is this true and could someone explain it a little more?

You have heard correctly.
But it might happen to you or not. Its not a thing the "always" happens, its just the luck of the draw.
Main thing to keep in mind on the older trucks is to make sure the plugs are good and snug.

If you don't check those plugs every now and then...the plug can blow out the head. If you blow it out...you'd get the new heads anyways. 99-00 have stronger rods.
