Little holes on lifters?? Need ANSWER!

Heyyy on the roller lifters...i know which way they go in obviously roller down...but on one side of the lifter..there is a tiny hole that looks like oil flows throw..not on the top of the lifter..on the side..its only on one side..and i was wondering does that HOLE have to face up or down before you lock it down with the plate....
any idea???
when i took my stock ones out they were all mismatched?

I put mine in facing up, but from what I have read and been told it dosent matter.
