That part of the world has been fought over for centuries. Just because the US recognized Israel in 1947 doesn't mean we put anyone anywhere. They were there and fighting long beforehand.
Britain handed the dispute over to the U.N. in 1947. Why must every thread go the "America did this" way?

Basically they miscalculated. They expected public outcry from keeping Israel from going full force. Israel finally got tired of it enough that they are willing to take the critisim. Think of it like this; You live next to Chuck Norris and you want him to move. You can't take him on head on so you throw rocks at his house all the time and occasionally break one of his windows. When he throws one back he has better aim and always breaks one of your windows. Then can cry about how you are being attacked and get the rest of the neighborhood against him. It's worked pretty well (even some people here think that Hamas is the victim) however Chuck has finally had enough and has now broke into your house and is kicking you ass. Dumbasses of the world (Cynthia McKinney for one) will either feel sorry for you or will try to hijack your cause for their own purposes. The rest of the world will laugh at you for getting your stupid ass kicked.

You would think.... There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity.... Isreali's are brave, palistinians crossed that line long ago and continue to run wildy into the abyss of obserdity.
I'd say any group of people that makes a habit of throwing rocks at tanks and groups of soldiers with automatic weapons is probably lacking in intelligence.
Hamas needs Isreal to stop first, so they can get the last punch in, and claim victory. If Hamas stops first, it will be show defeat. I think it's funny how Hezbollah isn't getting involved..... and there is a reason for that. Even though they claimed victory in 2006, they got thier asses kicked. Just like Isreal is going to kick Hamas's ass. They shouldn't have stuck thier hand in the fire if they didn't want to get burnt.
