because my stupid fuel neck filler grommet failed. :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

    crapola

anyways, just thought I'd share that. I was hoping fuel dumping all over the rear tire would leave some kind of awesome 88mph time traveling burnout mark, but it just made my car look like the rolling pile of daily driven junk that it is, haha.

Yeah that 10 dollar rubber grommet breaks over a period of time. Mine happened in the winter, and every time I would fill up, it would leak a couple gallons on the ground. Drove me crazy, so I ordered it and dropped the tank to put it in.

yeah, it falls under my dad's list (bowtie guy) of "Ford's 'better' ideas"

From what I can tell I could probably pull the back pass. tire remove the filler neck and probably do it without dropping the tank. Failboat?

nope gotta pull the tank. the neck is long and goes into the tank pretty far.

I just did this a couple days ago to put my fuel pump in. It's a PITA. Good luck!

You don't have to completely drop the tank out of the car. As I recall, I set my tank on blocks so I could just move it over a few inches and move it around easily. Then, I just lifted it the couple inches back into place. It's a lot easier than trying to lift it off the ground and stick it in place.

That is the fuel filler check valve. It allows you to fill up your tank all the way, and also prevents fuel from leaking out if the car flips during a crash. You will need to replace that now.

Not one of Ford's brighter engineering decisions.
