Hello! I have not been on here since 2006 when I sold my 1992 GT. I am thinking of buying a 1999-2004 GT Manual trans. I was curious, with some gears and headers, can i stay close to ls1's at all? Sorry if that has been asked a million times. Thanks!

How about this question. How big is the difference between a 1992 GT and a 2002 GT SOTP wise? I realize it has 40ish more HP, but it is heavier too I guess.

100% stock to 100% stock, there is a noticeable difference. Not "ZOMG I JUST PUT A SUPERCHARGER ON IT" or anything, but it would be noticeable. The extra weight of the 99-04 isn't enough to counter the extra 40-50 rwhp it has. Plus, the 4.6 has better rear gears and a wider torque curve, which is critical for a car to be fast. Now, a set of 3.73s or 4.10s in the 5.0 even it up quite a bit, but gear the 4.6 and it walks away again.

Realistically....a 2002 LS F-Body would murder a 1992 GT.....no contest. Its closer to a 90-100hp difference....not 40hp. And yes, it would feel like the F-Body was supercharged. They run over a second and a half quicker for gosh sakes.
