Merc Engine?

So my block has finally croaked and I don't have money saved up for a crate engine or to build my own. I have found a mercury mountaineer engine for $250 in a local yard. I will make sure that there is nothing wrong with it if I buy

But I was wondering If anyone had any suggestions?

I have about $2000 saved up to get my car going again

If it is a 5.0 then it should be the same as the Explorer engines. I say once you have verified it is good, do a cam and spring swap and enjoy your new faster engine.
