So I'm putting a 5.0 in my miata and I'm fairly new to this mustang motor. I've read as much as I can quickly but I have a question some of you more experienced people could help me with.

I'm wondering which cam to use?

I have 5.0 out of a 91 thunderbird with gt40p heads
65mm throttle
Headman headers
Trickflow street intake

The car will mostly be used on track.

Let me know if any other info would be helpful. thanks!

5.0 in the light weight Miata? I'd keep the stock cam.

BTW you said you want low end TQ and high revs. Those two things don't normally come in the same package.

I believe the tbird cam is the same as the 1993 cobra cam.

I'd probably leave it, or swap to the 86-88 mustang ho cam.

Or if you like lope, always the e cam :)

Yup. The 93' cobra had a 5.0 HO T-bird cam with 1.7 roller rockers. Ford felt that the 93' cobra kinda lacked in the low-end torque department, so they used the T-bird cam which was the more torquey option. I would recommend a comp XE258 cam (1200-5300 rpm range) aka stock 5.0 cam on steroids. With the gt40p top end, you won't have any traction in that light miata. lol Otherwise, stick with the t-bird HO cam and just install 1.7 roller rockers like the factory 93' cobra.
