Well, once again this lonely GT pulled away from yet another LS1 on a closed road course, making it 2 in a row from a roll! - First one was a Black LS1 trans-am 6spd w/ a catback and probably nothing else. Done from a 40mph roll and ended up about 1/2 car ahead. - Second was a Midnight Blue LS1 Z28 A4 w/ a catback as well and i think that was it. Done from a 40-60mph roll, pulled more than a car and couldve been more. Guy was stunned and wanted to do it again. 3 times total with same results So i guess it takes the following mods to a 99-04 GT to walk away: * O/R X-Pipe * Catback * JLT RAI * Accufab 75mm TB * C&L Upper Plenum * Aftermarket Clutch * 3.73's * Short Shifter * Extra weight of a sound system * GOOD Driver Woot! Wonder what will happen after some LT's, cams, and a tune Disclaimer: I may have been lucky and ready to hear the LS1 guys deny this to the death but i would think that racing 2 different LS1 cars with different transmissions and from a roll takes away a freak occurance and driver error. BTW, i trap 105 on street tires in street trim (chrome 18's and lowered ~2") if it sounds far fetched to pull from a roll. I just wanted to give us GT guys some hope and show that LS1's are by no means untouchable for a bolt-on GT as long as they are close to stock, if they start modding, we need a blower to even stay close
A 4.6 would need divine intervention since the LS1 is touched by the hand of God! I've seen lots of bolt-on GT's beat LS1's.....they're very nice motors....but by no means untouchable.
You need to pick you up a set of light rims man. It's bad enough that you spin those damn heavy 18s, so a 15" lightweight rim with some sticky tires would help I believe I saw that you are selling those cobras, correct?
Sure am and i hope the black 18" saleens weigh a bit less since they aren't chrome. I have my GF's 15" v6 rims for the track to mount my DR's on Know anyone that wants 18" Chrome Cobra R's? lol
Sure, I'll take them if you can take notes It blows being a broke ass student man Find someone to buy my bullitts and i'll buy your Rs Now when it comes time for a NPI GT to beat an LS1 guy it takes even less mods. You'll simply need: A NEW CAR
And if they have bolt ons AND is spraying, you better have a forged bottom end running lots of boost. I learned the hard way.
Yea, then its not even fair really. I wish i could have about 400rwhp N/A and be in the 500's with a 100 shot without being afraid to blow everything up
Very true....LOL......weight reduction is the key.......get that car lighter and you can stop playing with LS1's and start playing with Z06's........It took a full bolt on LS1 with cam to finally get me..........car weighs 3150 with me in it and runs 12.5-12.6 with DR's @ 105-106........he only got me on the big end.....his car weighed about 600-700 more lbs too........then that 270rwhp will fell more like 350........ "ED"
Nice inspirational thread I can't wait to run into a bolt-on LS1 now that i've got the cams, headers, 4.10's and all that good stuff
Good kill! They are beatable, but it takes alot and the ones you beat have minimal mods. A bolt on LS1 is capable of 350-375 rwhp and run's 11's. I have seen LS1's with full exhaust, lid and a tire run 12.7's
so have I, most of them are quick cars, but I think if you get a slow driver in a quick car, it doenst match up to swell. Still, nice defeat you had in ur dream......Im thinking some 4.30's in my car, swapping out my bbk cold air for a jlt ram air, and some other doo dads and getting my 12.9999
