Nice project. Maybe get the GT40 heads milled for more compression and do some porting to make them shine a bit better.

Gonna leave the intake plate the way it is, or block sand it to give it a bit of contrast? FWIW, your stock HO plate will bolt to the Explorer intake as well.

Holy crap-did you say Little River?? I thought that track was closed up a few years ago? I used to hang around there in the 90s! I'm from Temple...

The lettering, is going to be brushed, so I'm going to give it a few more coats, then take the die grinder to it. Then clear it.

Yep sure did. It's still open....surprisingly. The track really sucks as far as prep, but can't complain too much when I'm 3 miles away from it.

Yeah, the river has pretty much always sucked for prep. But, it's not like there are any "big name" people or events coming, so it serves its purpose for lots of enthusiasts. I knew plenty of folks there running 10s with sprayed/boosted 5.0s, so it isn't *that* bad. It's where I ran my first 1/4 in '95...good fun right up until I broke the spider gears. How much is it to run these days? Is Fred still runnin' the lights??

a point of compression increase is only good for about 12 hp. Figure he'd be at 10:1 then, but would he have to get new pushrods to make up for the head deck difference? Then you have to figure that at 10:1 you might run into detonation/timing issues with 87 octane. It'd cost more to run the higher octane.

    Worth it?

Everyone has a time-he'll be missed. But, for all the readers who were astonished at the capability of squeezing in 11 runs in a day-at the river, that's not terribly hard to believe if you hot lap.
