My 2005 S281SC #886 has finally touched down. It was unloaded off the transport about one hour ago. My dealer is still sending pictures as I write this. What a wait! It was ordered on December 6th. If you only knew the problems my dealer and I have had getting this car finished and delivered. I've got enough Saleen stories for a book.

I'll be picking it up on Wednesday morning. Right now I'm planning on attending the National Show in Indiana the weekend after next. I hope to see some of you there.

I have not seen it yet and I was there last week. Hmmm.
I am very exited to see it. I'm sure it is going to be a beauty.

    Sweet...anxious to see!

That would be great if you could bring the car to the national show! We'd love to see it...

I'm making the trip down from Wisconsin!

    Hope to see you there!

Congratulations! Just make sure you inspect every single part of your car and check all functions before you drive it off the lot. Be sure to post some pics for us.

:D You all know I'm an Ebay sniper. :D

There is an auction for 05's from that dealer in Indiana, and I'm sure they were proud to put Glenn's car up front for the shot.
Nice looking car by the way. Robert, I think we should move back east, get out of these insanely expensive, tiny houses and buy a dozen cars. What do you think?

Violet? I thought that was purple. :p

I love that paint but I would be absolutely paranoid to drive that car around.

I agree. I'm paraniod to drive and park a white car let alone an expensive, almost one off paint job like that. :D I think I would just put it in my livingroom and look at it.
Dave, feel free to comment on not driving it , but staring at it! :D

Doesn't deep metallic violet sound better then friggin purple?? :bang: As far as looking at it and not driving it, no way dude! I know the best thing to do is to keep the miles off, but I gotta drive the car. Hey, then again, I'm the one that talked about not modifying a "real" Saleen then went out and dropped another motor in it, so what the heck do I know... :D

Fixed my local, damn Marcus, do you miss anything?? :nonono:

Deep Metallic Violet does sound better then purple or in you case, friggin purple........ :D So that would make you a hippocrate for modifying your Saleen, right :p

We all saw the location fumble, however we were nice enough not to say anything. Besides Marcus misses alot of stuff but we are kind enough to spare him because he is a member of the white Saleen Club :hail2: :hail2:

From where I'm standing, my new house isn't exactly tiny nor is the garage :D but I will agree with you about the insanely expensive part. Trust me, I'll end up with four lifts in the garage and ten cars in my collection before it it all over, mark my words.
The idea of moving to say Tennessee and buying a 4,000 sq ft house on 2 acres of land for $200,000 isn't tempting, but there is one small problem......your in TENNESSEE!!! You can't beat SoCal and I'll leave it at that. Remember, I'm dating and will be marrying a surfer girl. Now, how in the hell can she surf in Tennessee?????
(for anyone who lives outside of Cali, please don't take offense to any comments made about the other 49 states. This is just one man's belief's and doesn't represent the overall opinion of this forum and its members) :D

My apologies to nrcollectibles, as this thread is going way off topic but…

    So you are engaged?!

    Sal/David! Purple! :stick:

    :jester:

    Back to the topic...

Boy that rainbow S281 is hot! I always thought it an interesting color(s) but it has really grown on me over the years.

That's the dealer I bought my car off of, names Ron Ward. Really great guy and really went all out to get me in the car. I highly recommened him if anyone's looking for an 05, and he's usually about 2,000 under sticker.

I love that paint, really beautiful car. I'd have to drive it too but what do you do about rock chips with that paint? Do you get a little touch up bottle of extreme rainbow?

Well, I finally got #886 home to Illinois last night. The drive on I-80 in Indiana and the Chicago area was a nightmare (too much darn construction). Washed it this morning and found no paint chips!

Thanks for posting the pictures on this thread. For whatever reason, I couldn't get my files to attach the other day. Yes, the car looks purple in the pictures but it really isn't when you see it in person. With the various angles you get purple, blue, green, and gold all at the same time. It's just looks unbelievable!

I can't find any problems with the paint finish. Just a super job! They actually removed the engine as part of prep. Its totally painted under the hood (bottom side of plastic hood remains black), inside the trunk and door jams. This was originally a silver car but you honestly can't tell that.

Both Ron Ward at Campbell Ford and the Saleen dealer rep. (Jim Cross) were great to work with. Ron didn't charge me for the gas guzzler tax increase or any Ford or Saleen price increases after I ordered the car last December. He even threw in a free Saleen car cover. I can't believe the dealers in Florida and Georgia asking 5K market adjustments on their cars.

I originally didn't order the Chrome Wheel package, and Jim talked Saleen into including those at no extra charge to make up for the numerous delays. Steve also signed the vehicle on the passenger dash.

I've been told that this is the only rainbow paint job Saleen is doing on a retail car for 2005. That would be really neat. I'll have to wait until September or October and check with Liz to make sure. Anyhow, I've rambled on long enough. Again, I'll see some of you next weekend.

    Congrats Glenn,

Sorry for posting that pic and letting the cat outa the bag.I just couldn't help myself. As far as the 05's go, you got the only Extreme Rainbow car so don't wreck it. There is another order, but it'll be an 06 I'm sure.
It looks soooo good. Congrats again. I hope you forgive me for posting, but it was on Ebay. I bet Ron couldn't help himself either by taking that pic.

What ever you do , post some nice large pictures if you can. It's one in 1 1,000 cars for this year. That is as rare as it can get for 05.
I'm sure the guys on Mustangforums will go nuts seeing it also as the guys over there are the new school as opposed to the old school over here.

    Drive in good health.
