OK, let me start off by saying that I have been driving manuals since I got my license 8 years ago and have not had a single problem with them so I know this "problem" is not because of me. Let me also say that I just picked up my GT last Monday (hooray!).
Since then I have put about 300 miles on it and I have noticed that the clutch smells "burnt" anytime I start to drive it even a bit aggressively. Example: the other day I parked on a hill (facing uphill) and some a-hole parked behind me only leaving about 8 inches between me and him. So I new I had to get moving quick so as not to let my new car roll back into his. The only thing I did was rev the engine to about 2500 to 3000 RPM and let the clutch out somewhat quickly (didn't even peel out) and even then I could smell burnt clutch. I have done this in other cars and have smelt nothing at all...
Sometimes just pulling into the driveway (uphill) and getting into the garage I can smell it too. I have done FAAAAAR worse in other cars and have NEVER smelt burnt clutch like this. Whats up with that?! Do these clutches "smell" for a while untill they are broken-in or is there something wrong with my car?

I'm in sort of the same boat just never started a thread on it. I have 2,000 miles on mine and I'm starting to notice that my clutch isn't as grabby as it was when I first got the car. I've been driving stick forever so it's not me... I never raced the car only have fun every now and then on the street, to sum it up the car it treated normal. I also notice that when I do get on it I can sometimes smell the burnt clutch:shrug: I'm glad I got the extended warranty!!

FYI, the clutch is a wear item that is not covered under warranty.

The maintence package I got does inlude the clutch!!! But its a seperate deal from the extended warranty... I would highly recommend it!

I'm having this same deal happen to me... But I will admit this is my first manual car :)

My '06 had this smell for the first 1500 miles or so. I'm now at 3200 miles and I haven't noticed it for a long time.

Had the same problem for the first 1000 miles or so. At almost 14,000 miles I cant even remember the last time I smelled it.

One thing that took some getting used to for me was the hydraulic clutch in general. It seems to engage so high up that I thought I was burning out the clutch. Mine ingages about one or two inches from the top.

Yeah, I agree. I also think that the hydro-clutch has about 1/4 of the "feel" of a regular mechanical clutch. Sometimes I have to look at the tach to see what RPM I'm at when starting from a stop (I'm not used to such a quiet exhaust, I can't drive this car by ear). I have never had to do that before. Thats said, I still love my car, its just gonna take some getting used to :nice: .

My 05 GT has 5k on the clock and the only time I smelt the clutch was riding it a bit too long to express my "displeasure" at some bint blocking the slip road. I've ordered a SPECS clutch and flywheel for when it does let go though.
