So, as I stated in a previous post, I finally graduated college. At the graduation, my grandpa didn't have a gift for me. He said "You'll have to wait until you come to the house in Kentucky for Christmas." So, I went there for a couple of days, and the first night I was there, he called me into his personal office to talk.

After a long conversation, I found out that THIS was his graduation gift to me...

An all original 1930 Model A. 78495 original miles. I'm keeping it in his garage for now though, until I have a different place with a well-built garage of my own. The only thing it needs to run is a battery, but it hasn't been started since 1998, so I will be rebuilding and cleaning up the engine, as well as replacing any seals, since seals tend to wear out pretty quickly in Model A's. Other than than, it's perfect. The body is in perfect shape with all the original parts. Not a single dent on the car and absolutely NO BONDO. I can't wait to get started on this thing!

Oh I plan to! IF I have kids, that is. This car will NEVER be sold. It's my new baby. I've drooled over it for years and now it's mine. It will be fixed up (what little it NEEDS fixed still) and I will be entering many car shows. My grandpa never had time to do that. Haha, it's funny. He was sitting there talking about how much the car might be worth and I just said "Grandpa, I don't care if it's worth $5 or $50,000, because I will NEVER sell it anyway." But, of course, THAT'S why he gave it to me instead of one of the other 3 grandsons: He knows I will appreciate it the most.

That's awesome! A neighbor of ours at my garage has a 20s Chevy just like that that he let me drive. It had manual timing that you have to advance as you accelerate, and let me tell you, that was crazy.

My grandmother (who is 94 or 95) still has hers, although nowhere near in as good a shape as yours, I want to say its a 1925-1927 model. Tell ya something funny about hers: She got her drivers liscense at 13 :)eek:  ) and she broke her arm trying to crank start the damn thing:( .

Nice but I would have been pissed!. I'd be like "oh you couldn't have had a Boss 429 or Yenko Chevelle or a Hemi Cuda right?. Had to be different from everyone else and have this huh?.". LOL, good luck with it!.

My dad used to have a 26 A. I helped him on it a little. A tip that will help out in the future:

The canister looking thing mounted to the firewall is a water/gas separator. Go buy one used in marine applications! The stock replacements just dont do the job. Water an junk caused my dads to run terrible. Once we put the heavy duty marine one in problems were gone.

Like everyone said before the spark and fuel adjustments are pretty cool but in actuallity they are used for starting and warming up the car rather than performance. As you can imagine fuel is 100% during a cold start and timing is on the low side.

Keep that flat 4 in there. I get sick of seeing these chopped to pieces to hot rod!

Have fun,

Matt
