In November 08 I took the stang off the road because of excessive blowby from tired rings. I had a decision to make...crate engine or rebuild it myself. Because I was sucessful with the 5.0 swap in 2006, I decided with the help of my boyfriend on heavy duty stuff and stangnet and a mechanic friend a phone call away, I could do this.... Earlier this week I got the engine started for the first time....I was thrilled I had completed this project, including a complete engine rebuild stripped to the block that I put back together with my own 2 hands. I never imagined I would have the guts to try this, and then actually succeed at it.... Because stangnet's wealth of knowledge, this helped give me confidence that If I got stuck I could find help. Thanks to stangnet's members and the love of the mustang community to make this possible. Nice job...but the work isn't over. Now its going to be a constant battle to keep that underhood area shiney.
That a girl!!! Im not only impressed by the fact that you callenged yourself (boy or girl thats a HUGE undertaking) but DANG you did a good job. Please post more pics of the car, if its anything near as nice and that underhood/engine bay then you got a cleeeeaaaaan car more than worthy of FOTM nomination!!! Congrats and great job! Matt
Yeah would like to see more pics of the whole car, LX to GT conversion was something I always wanted to do on my old LX, but I ended up just buying a GT Those 1 pieces look good.
Wow, the car turned out beautiful. Great job! Do you mind me asking where you got that black radiator cover? I'd like one of those for my car.
Sure does look sweet . I remember seeing your stang a few years ago at funford weekend, Keep up the good work.
first thanks all for the kudos The black radiator cover is from UPR, BUT it doesn't work with my double row radiator, so I have it temporarily zip tied to work....I have to buy another one. I hope you guys will go to my site on gotstang.com so you can see the other pictures. Here's the outside of the car from last year (but I just changed to new headlights that I'm trying out) I'll have new pics up soon after I drive my stang a few days. Here's my interior I did a few years ago (superior interior custom leather and suade on 84 gt seats with a net headrest from a svo)
Nicole, Your car is not the only one who's pretty hot! Congrats...love chicks who have the knack for cars. Rick
I'm sorry i have a bad habit of taking things the wrong way!!! Or did i? Oh yeah and congrats!!!! Makes me really want to pull the motor and paint the engine bay.
It was bored .30 over and the crank is under .1 (stock crank) and stock block; but everything else is new
Adding a few pics from today, inlcudes a complete engine shot (no missing stuff) and my maiden voyage today of 16 feet outside the garage (had to fix fan, a loose starter relay trigger wire and a few dripping tranny lines)
I was in modified mustangs a few years ago yes And yes, I've done a few passes at NED and ran stock (but w/ exhaust and shift kit in the aod) at 14.67 ......I think it was last year. I will go this year if I can get the 8.8 rear put in soon and the engine is running good.
