I just recently put some bfg drags on my 89gt. Love the tires, but they stick out past my fenders about 3/4 of an inch. This is causing my flares to rub when the car is cornered hard or when I hit any type of bump.....guess the lowering kit didnt help any with that......I see all kinds of flare extensions for newer stangs but nothing for a fox body. Anyone know where I can get them or offer any alternatives? thanks

I have Maier Racing flared fenders and quarterpanels on my race car. http://www.maierracing.com

I spent about $1100 or so on the fenders/quarterpanels, the price has gone up, I think. It's been a year or so since I put them on. I chose to rivet them to the chassis. Pretty simple installation and they fit perfectly. I am running CCW 17x12 wheels with 335s front and rear. Good clearance and I've never experienced rubbing.

Thanks for the info........why are they so expensive when for a newer car they are all over for a couple hundred? Would a generic multi-vehicle flare work and still look ok? Thanks again

Do you have any pics of your flares? Their site doesnt have any pictures of their product...that makes things a little tough to buy. Did you get whole fenders/quarters or just flares for the fenders and cut them out?

I have the fiberglass flared fenders and quarterpanels (3"). The "add-on flares" like you see on eBay don't actually extend the stock fender out and therefore are cosmetic only. They do nothing to improve clearance unless you cut the stock fenders. Personally, the whole point is to save weight and extend the fenders to support additional rubber.
