Need Help Decoding Axle Tag.

so i had the cover off when i did my 5 lug swap. i heard the s shaped clip is only in trak loc units?
my tag indicates it might not be from what i have searched

it reads:

s217a
3.08 88 0ho3

That S shaped clip is the spring that holds tension on your limited slip clutches. By looking at the tag it obviously has 3.08 gears.. .. and it's an 8.8 traction lock.

I'm not sure if that code will tell you what it's out of. Back in the day of 9" and 8" rear ends, a "Z" designated mustang, Now I don't know if they have that designation. I'm going to guess the "0" in 0h03 is 1990 and not 2000. If it were 2000 it would have disc brakes. So, It's a 3.08 TL 8.8 made Aug 03 1990.

yea i figured it had to a be a 90 since there was no 8.8 in 1980

Looking real close at the tag, it says 3L08, the L indicating a traction lock.

The . in 3.08 is not embossed in the tags.
