I am looking for a ratchet shifter that works with a reverse manual valve body in a C4. I would like to have a rubber or leather-like boot. I am looking at the B&M hammer shifter, but I dont know if it has a reverse ratchet shifter like action. I am not intersted in a 1/4stick. The quick silver shifter looks good, but, again, i dont know if it has a reverse shifting action...and it really doesnt have a boot.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would say get the Hammer because it has a reverse lock out making it NHRA legal. Of course, if you don't drag race it doesn't matter. Plus, it's direct fit and looks pretty clean. Keep in mind I have a 5 speed, so this is just crap I've read or noticed. :D

C4s were THE small block ford transmission for what 20 years?

    Back to the original question.

The Hammer and Quicksilver will both work with reverse pattern valve bodies, but I'd stay away from both. 15 years ago the Quicksilver was the top of the line and bullit proof ( I had one back then), I put one of the newer Quicksilvers in my Monza 6 years ago (one of the NEW and improved universal 3 or four speed shifters) and it's bad about having to double shift to get out of first and hanging in nuetral and stretching the cable. It made me mad enought that when I build the Stang I went with a Z gate (great cheap shifter). I'm going to a different class next year and putting in a brake, delay box, and new shifter (for the reverse shift pattern), so I'm going with a pro ratchet. All out race shifter with all the street features included (neutral safety, backup light switch, alum cover) and theres one version for three speeds, one for glides and to run a 4 speed it takes special adapters. The Quarter stick looks like a deal, but by the time you buy the backup light option and a cover, you could've had a pro ratchet. Besides, who wants a lever in the way when pulling through the gears?

IMO, B&M ruined it's Quicksilver when it tried to make it work on everything. :bang:
