Basically, I am going to buy one of the three listed on the page in the link. I had Hawk Pads on my Gt and they worked well without any brake squeal. Although some people have said that their Hawk Pads make noise. I certainly do not want to install NEW pads that are going to make noises. I'm tired of hearing it from my stock pads after the 6,000 mile mark. I would take my chances again and buy Hawk though.

Has any one ever used the Greenstuff Pads? If so, what are your opinions about them? Do they squeal?

Has anyone ever used, or even heard of, the SBS ProTouring Pads? It seems like they keep pushing back the "In Stock" date. Have they even ever been available before....are they new on the market? As you can see they are a bit more expensive. But if they are better and last longer, than I have no problem forking out the extra money for them.

    Any help is appreciated.

sbs is a good brand. 5.0 and sf did a test on brake pads a couple months ago, and sbs was near the top in all categories: noise, stopping dist, dust, etc.

I have the Greenstuff pads. They took a long time to bed in and stop squeeling. Probably due to the fact that I have FRPP slotted & drilled rotors, therefore was not able to turn them.

Good news: braking performance increase was huge!!! Brakes were way more grippy immediately upon install, and it was a rainy day! also, they are supposed to be good up to like 800* F, so no fade if you auto-x or open track race. I have used them on the track, and have had no problems. :nice:

Bad news: They are REALLY dirty. I get at least as much dust on the wheels as the stock pads, if not more. I have to wipe them down every few days. (once again, probably due to the slotted rotors...) Costs about $175 for the four corners...

Hawks are really good too, dont think you can go wrong either way. I also like the fact that you have full braking power at any temp with the Greenstuff, and even thought they are dirty, they are extremely rotor friendly

    Good luck either way... :nice:

viper, I've got this issue that matsm21 is talking about that has a nice write up on brake pads. If you want I can scan it for you and email the article to you. Let me know.

Has anyone ever tried any of the Steeda pads that are on thier websight? Are they made by another company? They sell 3 different levels of pads, I would think they would be decent...it seems like Steeda sells quality stuff.

My SBS pads do make noises ever now and then, but not enough to bother me. One thing I DO NOT like is they dust like crazy. They say that these are the same pads they put on BMW's, Audi's, etc and you've prob seen how many of those cars have their front wheels coated with brake dust. I'd say that after a few days, it's time to clean the wheels, but the plus is that these pads help the car stop.....like now.

Sure, if you wouldn't mind, please send me the article. That would be great. Thanks.

Hah, I always wanted to start a thread about BMW drivers and how black their front wheels are. Now I know why. :rlaugh: I ALWAYS see BMW's with black front rims. They never clean them.

I obviously expect some brake dust. But I don't want a pad that is really bad. And I DO NOT want a pad that squeals. I'd rather them dust more than squeal.

They started squealing around the 6,000 mile mark. I know have 14,4xx on it and they obviously haven't gotten any better.

    Back tires didn't last long either.....about 10,000.

Why build a 400 HP if parts on the car can't take it?

Of the three pads you listed, I only have experience with the Hawk HPSs. Still holding up well with low dust and no noise. If I were going to get the car on a road course (fingers crossed), I would probably change the HPSs out for some “racing” pads. For street use the Hawks have been trouble free.

I am curious about this issue too. I was leaning towards EBC.

Looks like you guys are talking mostly about race pads. How about some recomendations for us strictly street guys? You know, stuff that won't break the bank and you can pick up at the local Pep Zone or AutoBoys.

Just for reference, I have used Performace Friction on my 94 and would never go back. They were some of the dirtiest pads I have ever had. They also didn't last long at all. The other brand is the Raysbestos QS. These are supposed to be their 'ceramic' pads. I thought they were OK. Very quiet and very little dust.

    Just my 2 cents -

Break the Bank? Good pads for GT's are like $60-70. That isn't expensive at all. Especially considering most only have to change them once a year.

And I need good pads. I can't afford to skimp on brakes pads. I drive my car hard and need my brakes to work when I'm slowing down from high speeds.
