New DD - 2006 GTO

Well i got a new Daily Driver a few weeks ago. Its a brand new 2006 GTO with like 50 miles on it. Its the Torrid Red with black leather interior. Im enjoying this car so much, iv never had/drove a car with this much power before. This car is just a warm up for me because the 408W will kill the GTO.

I took it to Orlando Dragway for my first pass ever. My fastest pass was a 13.7 @ 101. This will be the only time its ever ran at the track, i just wanted to see what it would do and save the racing for my mustang.

Will get some pics up here in a bit!

IDC what anyone says, i like those new GTO's. everyone complains about them not being flashy enough...are you trying to say that the original GTO was a flashy car? it was an effin LeMans with a big motor and better interior! only the judge was at all flashy. I love the clean simple lines of the new one and the LS1 = :nice:

You mean LS2! I got the 6.0L...

yeah i rode in a LS2 gto ...talk about some power for being 100% stock thats about the only other v8 car i like..the new gto's..but if i had my chose for a new DD i think i would go for a 05+ get as i drove one and love em...most say they feel big but when you have drove a mark 3 that thing is like the size on a mini copper....

so what opped you to get a gto?

a saw a gto at the track friday night and he had a good amout of work done to it. he had it charged and all but i didnt get to see what he ran cause when he launched from the light he grenaded the tranny. sounded pretty good though but it sucks that he broke

Nice car. While the styling isn't quite as nice as the Holden I'm glad they're bringing them over here. Next up is this

You took a car with 50 miles on it to the track? :scratch:

Dude ... take it back there again when you've got like 10k on the clock, and THEN see what it'll run. You might be surprised. Giving things time to break in will make it run even better, actually - hell, even your gas mileage will improve over time.

My mum's 2006 Nissan Sentra was getting horrid mileage at first when it was brand-spankin'-new, rode kinda weird, and didn't seem to have all that much giddy-up to it; after about six months of daily driving, though, the mileage went from 24 highway to 30-something, and it's actually a pretty peppy little grocery-getter. I can only imagine what an LS2 feels like after it's properly settled in. :eek: (Then again, I can only imagine what an LS2 feels like, AT ALL - never rode in a car with one, yet. :D )

Only gripes I have about the GTO:

1. Looks too much like a Honda Accord crossed with a Pontiac Grand Am;
2. Dual exhaust with both outlets on one side looks kinda weird (reinforces the Honda look);
3. Too big (for my tastes);
4. Too heavy (loaded full of extra stuff);
5. Too overpriced (due to extra stuff).

Other than that, though ... an LS2 is an LS2. I'd still drive one (if I was forced to). :D

:nice:

I would've rather seen real Holdens over here instead of one with GTO stuck to the fenders. IMO you just can't take a foreign car and try to put a name and a legacy on it that belongs to an automotive legend.

BUT, they are nice cars and the engines are impressive. There's a guy around here with one that's cammed out and sounds pretty nasty.
