Hey guys this sat is the camaro vs firebird shootout.. Its test and tune as well so all can race. Ive got a friend with a 99z28 that runs 9.6's looking to go faster so it should be interesting . He said last year the shootout only filled about 1 and half lanes, so hopefully it will be another great day to race without too many people. Im just hoping its not too hot, and i can shoot for a new best in the 03. All you new england guys should make it up and race! Gates open at 8am, im not sure what time ill be leaving, maybe 730 or so. And for everyone who only goes on street nights, go on the weekend cause the track is STICKY, its unreal. Let me know who is gonna pony up and go...
Sounds good, but I'm already going to be up there on Sunday the 17th. My dad has a late '60s slingshot dragster and the 17th is one of the Nostalgia meets.
Id go but Im working on saturday. I will be there tomorrow though ( weds ) for the street night racing. Any of you plan on going?
I dont waste my time on street nights, the track is always slick.. Illwood, where in mass u from? If you decide to go up both days let me know.
yeah I know but I need the track time and I have the night off. I cant get to picky Im going going to get any better by never going to the track regardless of if its slick or not. They are having a test and tune on the 23ed. I plan on going to that as well.
Yea makes sense. WHen i said that i didnt mean you shouldnt go, i was just saying i dont. Since i dont work sats/suns those are the days i always wanna go. Once september/octocber rolls around be ready to pull some serious times... Treated track on the weekends and 50 degree weather = killer times
yeah deff count me in late this summer/early fall. For now I just need track pratice so I can get those good times later on this yr.
I'm from Bolton if you're not sure where that is, it's about 16 miles northeast of Worcester. I'll probably only end up going on Sunday. Currently in a bit of a cash flow crunch.
I had a good time at epping last night, got a new best ET and MPH. Im still having traction problems not sure if its do to me or the track , prob both. I still cant cut below a 2.1 on my nittos and I roasted the hell out of them last night. See the new times in my sig. Also took down a Z28 Camaro, EVO and a new GTO The Stang held its own last night
Glad you had a good time! Have you raced yet on a test and tune day? I think maybe you should consider some suspension mods soon, to aid in hooking up. Some shocks/struts and lower control arms will make all the difference. Also, drop your front sway bar before you goto the track, i found that to help ALOT. I just took mine outa my 03 for the first time and the front suspension feels nice and loose, im hoping for a new best 60ft on saturday. Also, when it comes time to buy new rear tires i highly recomend bfg dr's. Ive had both nittos and bfg's, and the BFG's deffinatly blow the nittos outa the water IMO. Ill never buy nittos again. Andy, charlie, lets hear it, you guys gonna make it up? Whats the excuse charlie? I know you got a million
I might come up and watch the competition. Or maybe, I'll pull you out of that cobra and show you how to drive it.
Ooooo snap! Well I'm stuck sailing with the girlfriend and her parents for the weekend, thats right, its me, her, her mom and dad all on a twenty footer all weekend and since she frowns on me drinking (girl is 20, I'm 21) you guys are gonna have to have a couple for me. Good luck and try not to break anything. - adam
i will most likely be going up next weekend, i think sat.....just to see what my car runs now b4 i start the major mods!
Im going to the test and tune on the 23ed Suspension mods are comming soon, by the end of aug I hope to have a new coil over set up and some upper/lower rear control arms. I might try the BFG's as just a track tire on a diffrent set of rims but I still like to drive the stang alot in the summer so the BFG's would not last long.
Any results? I made it through the weekend unscathed with the gf's parents. It was muggy as hell and hot to boot so I'm willin to bet it wasn't too great at the track...
Travis....Good to hear the times and the MPH is nice to boot...More ET in there for sure.....I had plans this wknd....Like Jesse say's, hit a TT day...you get some Pro-Comp thats heats the track real good...then dust em off and roll right into his patch...Thats what I did and pulled a 1.9 on street tires...thing just stuck....it was crazy Getting a good 60 is tricky...
Well it was a fairly good day for n/a cars! Very hot + humid = no good for sc cars. Anyways went 11.9 11.9 11.8 and 12.0. Best mph all day was 118.xx. Clutch was slipping pretty bad on the hard launchs. But it was a fun day! There was literally like 20 test and tune cars there for most of the day, so u could get in ALOT of runs. The firebird/camaro shootout had a good turnout.. My buddies 99z28 went 9.66x @138, best mph of the day was 141.xx. So that was a new best mph, his car is really gonna fly this fall in the cool weather. Im probably gonna wait for the fall to go back, unless there is a definite forecast of some 70 degree weather.. Its just really a waste of time to run in the heat with this car, it heat soaks soooo easy in the humid weather.
I was thinking about you guys today while I was putting the finishing touches on the new kitchen...with the AC on of course... Was not a good day for the drags....to damn hot for me...we'll hook-up this Fall or some cooler days... Sounds like a new clutch is round the corner??? Freakin car fly's....You don't know how many times I almost bought on of those Cobra's....Damn payments scare me though...
Yea it was a hot longgg day lol. Im gonna try to get a new clutch in it soon. Only thing is that the smart thing to do would be to get a 26spline tranny input shaft as well, since the stock input shaft with a good clutch will be a major weak spot. I dunno if i feel like spending the extra 300 for the input shaft, plus paying someone to install it on the tranny, then buying a new clutch. I might just try to get by this fall on the stocker and do the clutch/input over the winter, along with some 3.90 gears If you can find a cobra for the right price grab one! They are alot of fun, and very streetable for how fast they can be. I should have mine paid off before this coming winter, so its coming off the road this winter, which will be nice to save all the insurance money. Howd the new kitchen come out?
