Hey guys... new to the site. I've been roaming on here for advice for the last month, but I just signed up tonight...

I just bought an 09 GT. Black, 5speed

Love it... first Mustang. I traded in an 06 GTO for it because I couldn't stand it anymore. lol

so this is my list of mods. I ordered them from american muscle and some from stage 3... according to ups and fed ex tracking, they should all be here thursday, the 8th

motive 4.10 gears and bearing kit

    steeda underdrive pulleys

    eibach lowering springs

    pypes 304 mid muffler catback

    pypes catted x pipe

    comp stage 1 nsr cam

    bbk cold air intake

    steeda motion control delete plates

nitrous express plate system and purge kit

i also ordered some of those angel eye projector headlamps because they look awesome... oh, and a hat. it was all about 3500 bucks.

i figure i will take it to dallas mustang.. and i am guessing about 1000 in labor and tuning to map everything. the only thing is, i didnt buy a tuner. the reason is, i have a 2008 yamaha r1 with ported heads, exhaust, dry nitrous kit, etc... and i didnt have to buy a tuner, they just dyno tuned it for me.

am i right? or are they just going to make me buy a tuner anyway? i figured they would just plug it in to a computer and do it that way.

also... what kind of gains do you guys think i will get from this setup? my main hopes are the thing is going to sound meaner than heck.

    thanks guys - jason :SNSign:

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Good decision to trade in. Before I got my GT, I looked at an 2006 GTO. Nice car, but it isn't a Mustang

They are probably going to make you buy a tuner. The mods that you have listed definitely require a tune to run, and a Predator or SCT tuner are what most shops use to tune the car.

I don't know exactly how much power you can expect to gain, but I'd bet that once tuned you'll add 65+ hp at the wheels without the giggle juice. I bet others here will estimate more than that.

And yes, your car should sound... aggressive. To say the least.

I'll have to lookout for a black 09 around Dallas. I live in the Metroplex too.

i'm going to guesstimate somewhere in the 60-65 rwhp range w/ all that mods w/out the N2O.

    welcome!

I agree with the above post: 50-60 rwhp.

However, if it isn't too late, I would drop the Motive gears and get original FMS gears. The price difference is next to nothing, and I've heard that Motive gears tend to be noisier than the original Ford parts. Since you are going with a size that FMS makes, I'd go with the Ford part.

it is a little too late... the parts will be at my house tomorrow lol... i will have to deal with the sound. but, i did dynomat my entire car already just because i used to be involved in the custom stereo scene and i plan on putting a little system in here. nothing big... just an in-dash screen and 1 sub.. the shaker system sounds good already imo.

thanks for the help you guys

Congrats on the car man.. your gana love it!

With the mods you have in mind do u know if they are going to void your warranty?

Im very careful on doing mods to my car considering i just baught my 08 a couple months ago....

I have enough money to get a nice SC installed so far ive found out that if Ford installs the Roush SC the warranty is still valid...

The reason im very protective for my warranty is ANY little thing i just take it to my ford dealer and they fix it no questions asked...

i know that most of the parts will void the warranty... im pretty positive of it...

i guess i will worry about it at that time lol

but from my experiences in the past... with my m3 and especially my gto... it is such a PAIN to get anything covered under warranty regardless if its covered or not. if something goes wrong, i dont mind paying out of pocket.

i went with a stage 1 cam for that reason... im just trying to sound good and get a bit more power. i will only be running a 75 shot through the car to keep from major damage possibilities.... the nos is more for intimidation than anything. lol

i have it on my bike... and it doesnt matter what kind of bike pulls up next to me, i purge the system and they look off at trees blowing in the wind to keep from racing.

im not a big street racer, and i dont make it to the track a lot. i'll mess around here and there on back roads but thats about it. as long as it looks good, which mustangs do... sounds good... which mustangs do... and has a little bit of ass kicking and intimidation power... which it will, i will be content with my setup i have.

is 75 a good shot to run, or would you recommend a little more/less?

i got everything in... it looks so nice looking at all of those boxes sitting at my house.

i went on ahead and threw on the bbk cold air just because it was about a 20 minute job and its no tune required. it fit up really nice. one piece of advice though for anyone that installs it. i didn't really need to look at the instructions, but i glanced at them and it says when you put the (weather strip) on the top, to start at the radiator and work your way towards the fender.... do it the other way around, it will save you a minor headache. not an extra strength tylenol, but just a regular strength.

but it did make a noticable difference... the tires went from screeching into second gear to the ass swinging sideways into second... plus it was a cool 50 degrees tonight.

would anyone say that a 75 shot is a nice touch, or can an NA and pretty much stock block hold more, or does it need less to be safe?

what is a recommended tuner that everyone likes? i know i ask a lot of questions, but like i said, this is my first mustang and i want to do it right.

i know that you have to up the timing with a new cam, but then the nitrous says dont up the timing... so i am not sure exactly what it is to do to solve the problem...

and then tuning... would the shop do that? or do i order it with everything on it?

Xcal3. I'd recommend VMPTuning.com ... Justin can tune Mustangs and F150s. There is a guy locally who before putting a Whipple on his car had a VMP 93 octane tune, a K&N CAI, Tokico D-Specs and Eibach springs ran a 12.7x at Orlando Speed World on a few occasions, too.

i also delt with justin at vmp and i'm very pleased and i'll vouch for that other mustang nasty mentioned above, I think he trapped as good as 108. What was wrong with the GTO though? My brother inlaw has one and they seem like a nice car.

is the sct livewire worth the price difference? what does it do that the xcal3 doesnt?

the problems that i had with the gto werent as much the car as the name pontiac in itself, and the dealerships that they have selling their products.

in the time that i had the gto, there were 4 recalls, all of which took multiple phone calls, lost hours in waiting rooms and returning for problems that were not fixed. there were 2 problems that needed to be resolved under warranty (not a single aftermarket part on the car mind you) and on both occasions, i had to take it to the highest level i could go in GM in order to get the problems resolved. id say i had the car for 19 months... and in that time, i can safely say that 3 entire months it was sitting at the dealership service department.
