Hi guys yesterday i bought my wife an 07 GT prem. with a 5sd manual. Use to all you said was a 5speed and it meant a manual {not any more}. We really like the roush theme but it was out of our reach. I'm not wanting to make a roush carbin copy but would like to get the sizzle but with GT styling if that makes sense. Things i've thought about is blowing it and a tuner. I personaully like sct. Of course this does put intake and exhuast mods on the menue. I've had good luck w/ airraid and exhuast i dont think i've really had a bad one yet. What are yall's thoughts here? I cant find the search engine so its really knocking my research abilty down to asking questions. This is by far not our 1st stang. WE've had 68-71, 85-89, 93, 96, 01, and now 07. I'm really unsure about this 3v head on how to spice it up. On my 05 150 it was really simple but we where talking about the 5.4L and i know there on the same block butthat doesnt mean thast the same applies to mods and i know ford is messing around with the pcms to stump tuners. On diesels it could be a nightmare, and it appears that some have had their share on the gas burners as well. Anyway I'm really looking forward to getting this "vision" underway. Just have'nt gotten the clear picture yet. THanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.
The Search function is not that hard to find. I would look around and start focusing your vision so that you can ask specific questions about what you want to do to your (wife's) new stang. Congrats BTW. Got pics?
The bottom line is the 3 valve responds well to forced induction. Superchargers and turbos are plentiful for these cars. If you want to stay naturally aspirated, go with 4.10 gears (FRPP), CAI, hand tuner, axleback exhaust, UD pullies, longtube headers, lower control arms, lowering springs and just stay on the forums for a good education about this car.
FNG thanks, no i dont have pics yet my wife wont stay still long enough for me to focus the camra .Tomarrow evening we're cleaning it up so i'lll get pics then. The search was'nt there last night. I dont know what happened. I dont know how i could have overlooked it., but anyway i found it this morning and found some info i was looking for. My vision is to built a tight stang. I want to stay with the GT style. I dont want to build a cobra clone or steeda etc etc. What ever I dont want to lose sight of that. Evertime i do this the car ends up trying to be something its not. I've built 2 cobras and 1 saleen. It was so easy. What i'm thinking is roush power in a GT. starting out its already a challenge being that the roush has a charged 5.4L in it. I'm not going to drop a 5.4L in this car. I think i'll beable to make this GT move like roush and put the kind of numbers on paper like the roush but with the 4.6L. Funny story here but very true. Tonight we where coming up on a red light. My wife was driving and we where inthe left lane. In the right lane right beside us was an 04 GT and behind him was a firebird. THe firebird starts sounding off and the GT's driver looks over at my wife and revs up pretty good. The light is still red my wife just pats the gas once then lights her tires up real good but quick. The GT and firebird might as well had turn their engines off cause you could'nt hear a peep from them. The ... The GT was behind us and at the next light he wants to try her and again she leaves. Neatless to say for the next 3 or so miles was rather fun. This has got to be the most pepie stang we have owned not counting my 69' 428cj. As far as small blocks this is nice. anthony thanks for the insight. I'm not against blowing it. And most diffently UD pulleys are in order. You prety much nail what i've thought about doing. I most likely wont lower it though i really dont like 'em lowered. What kind of power curve are you talking about creating here? 300hp at 5700rpm is sorta out of reach with out a tuner to drop the rev limiter and then i dont know if the engine will wind that high for effectivness. So my thoughts are to shorten the curve get as many ponies in under 5000rpm as i can. Now i'm just guessing. This engine might hold together at 6500 rpms pinned. I've seen 5.4Ls ripped open at 6000 rpms
The Roush is a S/C 4.6 only. The Shelby GT 500 is the only one with the S/C 5.4. Both Steeda and Saleen offer a S/C 4.6 and S/C 5.0.
Yep I missed that one. The stealer told me the roushs had 5.4L and being out of the loop I did'nt know any better. I reckon i've sit out to long. Their taking the 4.6L to high places these days. Well anyway thanks for the heads up.
