Well guys.... I've been a graphic/web designer of one sort or another for 9 years now. I took a slightly different route 3 years ago to become a color conversion specialist. Our company is not doing well. Stupid recession. I made it through some REALLY tough lay-offs in the past month. Now I have an announcement, I just put in my 2 weeks notice.

March 24th I start my new job at O'reilly Automotive. Their home office and creative dept. is just 15-20 minutes up the road from where I live now. It's really starting to sink in, and I'm getting excited to make the change. Finally I'll be at a company that will be around for a number of years.

And yeah.... the employee discount at O'reillys will be a lot better than the hokey crap we sell where I am now. :D

I just hope combining my career and hobby will be a good move and make me more excited about each instead of the opposite. The guys in my car club are pretty excited for me. :rlaugh:

Congrats! I spent 8 years in the web field, doing a lot of programming & database work. I'm sure you'll love combining the two together; hopefully it will make the job a lot more fun. :nice:

Congrats on the new job :nice: :nice: . Good luck. I like the O' better than alot of the choices out there.

Graphic design will always be close to my heart...I am 1 class short of a degree in it. I changed my major in my JR year as after looking around and even getting an offer to intern at a TV station I did not like my options for pay unless I went on my own...and BIG :hail2: for those that can deal with that stess in that field.

I worked in Television when I graduated in 99. A month later I quit as I was offered TWICE the money to switch to print design. So that's the direction I headed. I have made one 20 second commercial on Discovery Wings over the years. That was kinda fun. :)

Thanks everyone for the congrats.... I'm looking forward to the new change. Living close to the home office of a business you like can really pay off I guess.

Oreillys is like Advance Auto, Autozone, Napa or Checkers. Depending on what area of the country you live. I'll be one of their graphic designers. 07 was their 50 year in business. :nice:

Congrats bro. I wish you the best of luck.

I still find it funny how people say O'reillys is like Advance Auto, or Checkers Them 3 companies are basically the same they are owned by the same people.

I find it funny that you have NO IDEA what you are talking about. :D :rlaugh:

Advance is their/our biggest competitor. Also if Checkers was owned by either, why on earth would the other two be trying to purchase Checkers who is in finacial trouble?

Food for thought.
