Hey guys.... I have always owned fox body 5.0's. I just sold my 90' and I am soon purchasing a 1997 Cobra. It was 47,000 miles on it and it is all stock. The guy wants $12,500 for it. First I would like to know if this is a fair price. Also, does a 97' cobra ride a little better than a foxbody 5.0? I know that mustangs do not ride like lincolns, but it will be my dailey driver and would like a slightly smoother ride. Also, has anyone made the 5.0 to 4.6 switch? Will I be happy with the 97' Cobra. It looks to be mint and has low miles. Any info on this year cobra would be great. Thanks so much.

I have never owned a fox body 5.0, but I can tell you this, from a 1969 mach 1 to a 1997 cobra, i love the change! i guess just having the creature comforts really is a plus. Mine already has 94k miles and still runs as strong as the day I bought . As for the quality of the ride, you will have to try it out for yourself. Im not very picky, like Ive mentioned, Ive traveled far in crappy rides and the 97 felt like luxury. However, with the bassani, i doubt i want to take it on long trips.. although I have and didnt mind it much. Make sure you get it inspected by a mechanic first. The transmission on those things are crap and usually first to go.

KBB tells me its only worth $9200 (might be different with your zip code and you know the quality of the car better). Also check the leather seats, if not taken care of, those could easily look cracked and old. ALthough it would be hard to find those stock anymore. I bought mine for $14,000 3yrs ago, excellent condition with just a bit under 40k miles.

IMO that price is very negotiable. Good luck and keep looking. If you are patient, you can surely find a better deal.

you can make it ride like a lincoln if you wanted to, but generally most of us like a stiffer setup. however just the adjustability in my shocks and struts, will dramatically change the ride. I love my 97!!!!!!!!

Before i got my cobra i had a 91' notchback 5.0. That car felt like the road was made of boulders. My 01' cobra is like a bentley next to the fox. I will never have a fox as a street car again, a drag car? thats a different story.
