  • Sponsors (?)

Small update on the car most of the work iv been doing has been basically general maintenance and preventive maintenance but I did get a hold of some later GT rims with like new tires witch was grate sins I got the car with 4 bald tires

And chasing down a cold start problem I swapped out the stock 250k coil packs for some new MSD coil packs and upgraded to some Taylor race wires needless to say iv got more spark then the car knows what to do with

Next payday I think i'm going to change out the fuel pump witch I think took some damage from the previous owners running it with the clogged F.P.R. or has just become weak from age but like every thing else if i'm doing the work I mite as well upgrade so thinking about a BBK or Walbro but would like to hear other suggestions on the matter I don't know what the factory flow rate is and I don't know if there's a limit on how big you can go before you have to go with a manual F.P.R. id like to go bigger but not crazy big and id like to keep the factory F.P.R.

Did things to the turd today

New FordRacing Hurst shifter #FMS-M-7210-M and AeroMotive 340lph fuel pump #AEI-11142

I know its Gotti and clashes with the interior but it makes me smiles I pacifically ordered this shifter just because I wanted that old skool chrome shift lever and white knob sticking up it all went together no problem and shifts grate but although I know the shift pattern is tighter you don't notice with the long Hurst shift lever but I'm sure if I installed the shorter stock lever it would feel more like a short throw but like I said I really wanted that Hurst lever sticking up...

The fuel pump was a different story I guess the AEI-11142 is the wrong one for my particular factory setup guess I needed AEI-11140 but it was easy enough to modify the hanger assembly to except the AEI-11142 just had to cut a small peace out the the hanger to make room for the different style pickup basket...

Its been a long time coming but the hydro pump finally went out so no power steering or power brakes... I can live with no power steering but the power brakes on the other hand id feel safer with in traffic so guess my next buy is going to be a new pump and or booster...

You should do something about that paint asap. Lol. Even if you just spray it with some primer. Atleast then it will be uniform and more respectable. Don't worry about the naysayers. Every enthusiast puts more money in their cars than what they are worth. Its a hobby not an investment. ;)

:nice:O I know iv had more then a few projects in my time and think I lost money on every single one but I enjoy it

Yeah iv slowly been sanding and primering a bit here and a bit there but I work 2nd so its a little hard to do at midnight LOL plus iv been more worried about getting her mechanically sound shes a good running car but there are things like the rigged clutch cable that someone did that id rather get replaced

Installed a new power steering pump last night and BBK underdrive pulleys #BBK-1555

16128_1025243210849220_3864851667538099143_n.jpg

I'd like so say it was easy and every thing went well but id be lying. The instructions for the underdrive kit said it should take 1.5 hours to do and it probably would of if I had any of the recommended tools. But I went to a buddy's house at midnight to do this and thinking he had all the tools (AND LIGHTS) I only took a TQ-wrench and the pulley puller for the pump. That was just a straight up FAIL on my part you only need a couple of tools for each job but we had to hunt, dig, or make every last one. On top of that the car just out right did not want to give up the pulleys even the water pump pulley witch should of come right off needed to be smacked with a hammer. But it all went together and seems to work fine there was just took a little more time and a lot more cussing.

New Trickflow upper intake plenum in plan #TFS-518B0001

This went a lot smoother then the BBK pulley kit. Think it took me all of 40 min and would of been done sooner if I didn't put the wrong fitting on the front of it LOL. I did find that whoever had the thing apart before not only did not put a throttle body on witch I found after I got the car but also did not put a gasket on for the EGR and just looking there's no way it wasn't sucking air....O WELL fixed now....

Side note: I actually ordered this the same day as the BBK underdrive pulley kit and although I live in Ohio where Summit is headquartered and apparently owns Trickflow witch is also apparently made in Ohio they had non in stock and they had to ship it from there Nevada store go figure

SO there's a couple smaller things id like to buy first but for my next big purchase i'm at odds. Iv got 3 things on the list and i'm not really sure witch one I really want to knock off first...

1. Hand held tuner (Besides more power I'd really like to tell this poor car that it no longer has cats)

2. Long tube headers and new exhaust (Although the car has aftermarket cat. delete and X-pipe whoever did it just did a poor job and despite the fact that I love the sound of the glasspacks i'd really like something different plus the stock exhaust manifolds look restrictive as hell)

3. 4.10 gears (I'v thought about this the most I originally wanted to put in 3.73 BUT sins I live like 5 min from work and only hit the highways on the weekends I figured WTH the only issue with this is that in truth iv never changed out gears before)

SO no hate please just tell me what you think so I can try and make up my mind

LOL, Maybe it's because I'm getting older but that was seriously the coldest thing I've read on here in a long time.

Definitely looks like a Mustang that would take the right person to fix up as a project. We have all see great things rise up from far worse than this.

defiently, did you see the guys post on rising from ashes on the cobra? That was heart breaking

Thinking i'm going to finish off the intake real quick with a new 75mm t.body, CAI and maybe a MAF then move on to the 4.10 gears being somewhat cheap witch should let me recover a little financially and then do the exhaust sins my goal seems to be just to throw boltons at the car till I get my lazy @$$ in gear and put a 99-04 PI motor in it I think ill hold off on the tune till I get the new motor and get it tuned at a shop

Next round of upgrades BBK 75mm t.body #BBK-1701 and BBK Blakout cold air intake #BBK-17186
11822854_1033470006693207_452525547026567904_n.jpg

I was going to get the Trickflow 75mm t.body to match the upper plenum plus its $30 cheaper then the BBK but there's like a 30 day wait right now I guess... Besides the BBK 75mm has the same part # as the registry # on a certain starship "How could I not"

For some reason I kinda thought the BBK t.body was going to be a joke but its actually really nice

If I didn't already start primering it i'd think about it but I kinda want to do something even if I just spray paint it... PLUS my last Camaro was kind of a rat and I started to rat up a 95 Ram once and lets not forget everyone's favorite the OD Green Civic...LOL

Well I was out in the country side playing with some friends recording 0-60 times "Please keep in mind were just using the stopwatch on my phone" anyway shes getting faster but still slower then she should be. When I 1st got the car she was only running around 9.5 0-60 witch is stupid slow most likely do to the crap fuel pump among other things now shes running mid 7's witch is still slow. Iv picked up 2 sec but the car should be doing better O.E. is the most likely factor but I read somewhere that stock 0-60 for a 96-98 is like 7.1 what do you guys think? My car easily outruns my buddy's bone stock 94 GT time and time again

I enjoyed reading your thread man, glad to see you want to fix this car up. It pains me to see 1994-04 Mustangs that are neglected and worn out. I was feeling down on how worn out my Mustang is but after seeing yours I shouldn't complain! Hope that doesn't sound mean, Im just picky about my cars looking good. For the rear end gears I went Ford Racing 3.73's on my Mustang. If you really want 4.10's get em but I'll tell you right now you will need some damn good tires to hook if you race from a stop and you will probably only go 120mph max. I spin my 315/35 Nitto NT555's like no tomorrow if I don't know what I'm doing and at the 1/4 mile I have to shift into 4th at the last leg of the strip. In all retrospect I wish I had just installed 3.55's or left the original 3.27's in the car because I'm debating on supercharging this turd or getting something else. I look forward to reading more about your car man. I just wish I had the money to do something right now. If its not that I'm iffy on keeping her at times.
