I first ran my car will the following mods: C&L x-cal2 can tune and 4.10 gears. The result will the factory tires at 22 psi was 13.6 @ 103, 60 was 1.99.

I ran last night with the mods in sig and got 13.8 @ 105.1, I don't remember my 60ft. I spun all the way through 1st and 2nd gear both times last night. I even launched easy on the second run and still had really bad traction. I mean I was goosing the throttle through 1st and second gear. All times were at Speedworld (A.K.A Spinworld) in Orlando. People that have ran at the track know exactly how bad the traction is here. If you don't have a good set of tires or drags then you shouldn't run. Since I don't have the money to purchase a good set of tires or a set of drag radials. I would like to here all suggestions on what I can do about the traction issue. Also to the people who have or still run on the factory p.o.s tires, what pressures do you recommend running them at?
I knkow that the car should run a low 13 or a high 12, I am in desperate need of some traction, or just take the car to the track in Tampa.

    Thanks

i suggest you rev up to 2500rpm or 3000rpm and slip the clutch and this will give a pretty good launch.. i got 1.93 60' on stock tires. your 60' is not bad too but sure you can imporve it.. slipping clutch is the way to go! not that eats your clutch alive!!! also i ran 13.6 stone stock.. how come you guys can't be low 13s with these mods??

well for one the track that I run at is terrible. All the stock S197 mustang there run low to mid 14's. even the new vettes (not the Z06) run high 13 to low 14. Moded sti's low to mid 13s. most stock ss camaro are mid to high 13. moded srt-4 (which I really hate) run mid to high 14s. Just about every car that runs there with a street tire really doesn't do that well. I need to take the car to a different track to compare.

JT is that track pointed uphill???...LOL. Seriously, is there high humidity there that would hamper performance? It certainly isn't high altitude(nowhere in Fla is). What ever it is, it affects all types of cars so I don't believe it is your car specificaly.

it's called track prep, to be honest I get better traction on the street than I do at this track. At the last Fun Ford Weekend, the racers told the track officials that they refused to run in the right lane.

Don't feel bad, with all my mods and my first trip to the track I could only get 13.3 at 106 on the factory tires. With my mods and especially the gears, it think that I'm actually slower because I can't get traction at all.

Slipping the clutch out of the hole only works so far- when the car spins like mad when shifting into 2nd gear and trys to break loose going into 3rd, only tires will fix the problem. I'm only speed-shifting, not power-shifting.

    crappy.. 93.21 cuz i missed a gear..

also people who claim that the rack i ran was downhill.. i say look a my 60' time.. 1.93 and ANY 05+ MUSTANG GT 5 SPEED WOULD RUN THE SAME TIME AT ANY TRACK IN THE U.S.A. WITH THAT 60' track looks like downhill but it is not.. if it would be down hill then eveyrone wuld run faster and trap more.. all mustang GTs ran low-mid 14s all day.. trans ams ran hig-mid 13s even some cobras ran high 13s low 14s..

06 stick GTO;s best time was 13.8 and he ran 14s all day long

From the starter box, most tracks have the illusion of being downhill due to the track sloping upwards past the finish line to aid in slowing the cars. Same effect is given if you were looking towards the starter box from way down track. Ever watch NHRA on tv? They show those views often and it appears that way on tv as well.

I was running normal 32psi. I was trying to see what I could do with my normal street setup, minus my 85lb subwoofer box.

Okay may show my ignorance but here goes anyway. What is the difference between the two mentioned shift methods?

Here is my attempt at speed shifting...letting off the gas just a little as you shift???
Power shifting...from what I've heard and done in my 2 manual cars is...preloading the shifter(applying pressure to the shifter almost to the point where you push it out of gear without using the clutch)...keeping your throttle foot planted you stab/pop the clutch and the shifter just falls into the next gear.

I preload the shift lever on my motorcycle just about all of the time. Makes for a much nicer/easier shift...at any throtte position.

power shifting is shifting without letting the gas off.. you are using the clutch!

Well, not to poke at you about the topic, but if you absolutely know without a doubt there is a traction problem, what would be the point of posting that your upset with your ET's. You obvisouly know exactly why your numbers are showing no respect. Bottom line - find the coin for some drag radials or don't go to that track ever when you want to see decent times. Use it as a practice track.

Secondly, and more importantly I piloted my stock 07 GT to a 13.71 at 102 while a good friend of mine was cutting 13.9's with CAI, tune, shorty headers, x pipe, corsa axle back. I figured he was just driving poorly, but piloted the thing back to back runs - 13.94 and 13.87 It wasn't him, the car was just a turd.

Some cars just never shine for some reason, I see it in my sport bikes all the time.

    Power shifting

I also normally speed shift, I still have the stock 5 speed shifter and I think it works pretty good, but I was wondering if you thought the stocker was up to being power shifted well. I have power shifted from first to second, and later was asked if I was running an automatic, but I never went from second to third because I was kind of worried in the heat of the drag race that I would slam it into first instead of third.

Have you power shifted your stock shifter with success? Also, with 410 gears dont you have to shift to 4th? I have 3:55's and third is wound out tight at the 1/4.

Well I was just trying to see what people were running with the stock tire setup. Would you like to donate to the "I need drag radials fund"?
