i bought my 93 4cyl. stang thinking i would convert it to V8, but now im thinking it might be easier with less headaches to turbo my 2.3. i cant seem to find out if this 2.3 can be turbo'd or do i need a certain year? i know this had to be discussed somwhere on this site before, but if anyone can give me some links for right motor for turbo or any info on it i would be thankful. also anyones opinion on turbo or v8 would be appreciated.
www.turboford.org Look through the archives there, or... www.stinger-performance.com Both have info on the swap. You really can't turbo the stock engine because it just won't handle it. A 2.3 Turbo swap is easier than really any V8 swap just because you don't have to change out nearly as many parts.
You can checkout this link for all the swap info. http://www.stinger-performance.com/ To effectively do the swap you need to swap the entire long block due to the turbo motors having forged pistons. If its any help I had a nitrous 351 that I removed to reinstall a 2.3 and it went way faster way cheaper. If you hit that link scroll to the bottom and the black coupe is mine.
