Ok, I've been lookin around at stangnet for a while, but just now registered, But anyway I have a 94 Gt Auto, I just put a 351W and C6 in it, now my problem is it runs great off idle, but barely idles, I'm using a basically standard ZAO code, It just seems like any changes i make to that code, the car will not run at all, I've been tryin to get this straight for 3 solid days now an honestly I'm almost to the point of putting a carb on it. I need some ideas of where to go from here, or tell me what I'm doin wrong.
Engine specs: '82 351W block bored .030, the deck was shaved 0.023", Flat-top forged pistons, race ported '69 heads, TFS stage 2 cam, 1.6 roller rockers, Efi spyder intake, 42 lb injectors, 75mm tb, 76 mm c&l maf, full msd ignition, all emissions are deleted except for cats.
I was thinking that the injector PW is off but when i change it the car will start and immediatly die, I dont think the injectors are overly too big, i tried 24's but the motor ran out in the top end and it still idled like crap. So any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated, cus im stuck

42's are going to take some messin' to get to idle correctly but do-able.

I would start with the j4j1 cobra file, and change the cid scaler to that of the 351 (but the actuall, like the stroke/bore equation).

The biggies are going to be the maftransfer/inj. slopes/batt. offsets. preaty much in that order. If you list your maf I am sure people can get you preaty close or in the hood' of a base tune.

42's are going to be a pain though compared to the 19-24inj. but stick with it plenty of people who will help you out.

You may have to run a forced open loop if all else fails.

    ****edit, saw you have a 76mm C&L...

No offense but you will prob. have better luck with a diff. maf. and you may need one in the 80mm range or larger anyway.

we have a similar setup besides the tranny. i have the maf flow numbers/volts for your 76mm c&l for 42's. hit me up if you need it. i have used both prom and c&l and tweaked on both.
be patient!!! i was almost about to put my custom chip back in after a few days of trying to tweak! it will start to come around and you'll start to understand. major things, when you work on the maf remember to clear the cars memory. i do this after maf,inj slopes, and inj offset changes. work on one of these at a time. to many variables changed at one time can really confuse things.

All I can offer at this point is to watch out for the "Update Only" checkbox.
By default mine seems to activate after every modification I make.

The update only has a bug and will corrupt your program almost everytime you use it.
I was getting pretty frustrated too, until I learned that.

Not sure if that is the issue, but thought it should be mentioned.

Edit - I have some links to C&L MAF Transfers on my site.

I've seen many say the ZAO did not work out all that good for them.

There is one peep on here or Corral who uses it but I just can't remember who.

I also think the j4j1 would be a good foundation to build upon.

You will most likely have to cut your minimum pulse width back a good bit with those 42's ...... maybe in half ...... since they are twice as big.

Hang in there ...... you can't get it perfect on the first try.

I really appreciate all your help guys, and the maf flow numbers/volts would be great, i found out today that if i completly remove the sample tube from the maf it idles much better (but still not right) I dunno if that is a sign that i need a bigger maf or of poor tuning  I'm hoping to get the laptop on it tomarrow and redo the slopes etc..., an possibly try the j4j1 code

I did try to download the ZAO file a while back (even though I run an X3Z), as I was curious about some of the settings.

It turned out that the ZAO file on the yahoo tweecer site was corrupt.
(I posted a message there, but I don't think anyone looked into it)

Where did you download the file from?

I found a good one somewhere, but will have to look up the source.

If you want I can email the one I have... it may work for you.
