Oil Pressure Switch Ignition Cutout

Had a thought the other day to possibly prevent engine damage. The idea was to hook up the ignition through a relay connected to the oil pressure switch. The theory being that if the oil pressure dropped to a critical level then the ignition would cut automatically. This could also be linked to a water temp or water level switch also.

I know the oil switch would need a bypass for starting and I already have the simple wiring schematic sorted for all of the above.

I was just interested to know if someone else has tried this before and if there are any pitfalls that might be encountered.

I have an oil pressure switched wired into my electric fuel pump circuit. Guess you could wire one into the ignition circuit but I would think a good gauge or warning light would suffice.
