Need a full size truck for my shop that can tow and haul and is cheap so I am about to go look at a couple GMs (yuck) a Dodge (yuck yuck) and a Ford. I hope the Ford is cool. Pics look great and it has a fresh 351W under its hood. 1995 x-cab and at 2k it seems like the truck for me. So about to go sign my house away and grab 20k or so out of the bank and make it rain at a strip club too. Anywho the Ford truck owner is messican and I cant hardly understand him so the truck is prolly a turd. If thats the case the obnoxious green GMC x-cab stepside looks solid enough and is cheaper and only has 180k on it. Didnt want a stepside but it could still hold a big block and trans in the bed so its not that big of a deal.... other then the fact its a GM and its an aqua green.
Owner won't show up for 2 hours... truck will have a flat tire, after Bill fixes the tire and buys the truck, the fuel pump will fail on the way back to the shop. In the meantime, a thunderstorm will pass by raining on Bill and his shop will be struck by lightning burning it to the ground...
Coulda just bought my truck, '99 Sierra, 4.8/4L60E/3.73s (it's a beast for towing). Of course, it has 206,000 miles (brand new transmission though!) and I would want at least $4800 for it.
Plan on getting a flatbed anytime soon? It might be a nice service to be able to pick up and deliver clients vehicles.
Probably walking back home after the craigslist bandit stole his car, wallet, cellphone, and chesseburger.
Thats way beyond what I budgeted. Went to see the stepside Silverado and hated it. Needed many many many new parts. Also had 299k miles. So I then went to see a 96 F150 with a fresh (as was told to me) 5.8 windsor. Truck described as perfect. Opening the hood showed me a 302. None of the windows or AC worked. I also couldnt understand a damn thing the messican was saying. So tried to push the budget another $500 and get a 93 Lightning. Truck was nice. Strong runner. Dude says he lost the title so can give me a bill of sale. I laughed and walked away. Well as luck would have it on my drive home feeling defeated there was this 1997 Dodge SLT on the highway for sale. King cab, two tone green and tan, leather and all the options. Paints shot and the front seat leather is ripped to holy hell but the damn thing was super solid. Front to back it was in near perfect mechanical shape. Needs new plugs and wires as the wires come right out of the jacket and it needs new front ball joints and brakes. All that stuff is under $200 and take me maybe an hour to fix. One owner truck, old farmer guy. Said his son in law is a mechanic and always keptthe truck in tip top shape. Couldnt find any leaks and let it idle for about and hour and it never broke a sweat. So $2000 latter and I now have a solid shop truck. No pics, just your standard green Dodge with pealing clear coat. Seen one ya seen them all.
Thanks. I am really not a Dodge guy at all but I could tell the truck was cared for but was used as a truck. My partner wants to practice painting so I will let him have at it. Body is damn near perfect without a speck of rust so its a good canvas for him to try. He rattle canned his Mark VIIIs nose and ill be damned if it aint almost a perfectmatch with the rest of the black from the factory on the car. Guy is good with a can. The seats look terriable cause they are tan and the bases are ripped to fock. I could get seat covers but I hate seat covers cause my wide ass always makes them slip off. Besides a decient set is $45 and the JY only charges $45 for seats. So I will wait for a tan set to show up. Dont care if they are leather or cloth as long as they are not torn. I still havent been to sleep. Too excited withall the stuff I gotta do. Trucks windshield is cracked to hell so I wanna get in firstthing this morning and replace it and have them tint the door windows since the rears are factory smoked pretty dark. Then gonna wash it up and drive it up to Dallas to get a play toy.
