318 which I am happy with. 5000lbs is all it would ever need to tow and the 318 gets about 3 more MPG over the 360. That being said the extra grunt woulda been nice. Truck was running a little off. Felt like a missfire. Right as I got home the check engine light came on so I scanned it. Sure enough #1 logged 18 missfires. So I went to check it and noticed the cheap wires just slid out of the boot. I stripped the wire and soldiered it to the terminal and it works much better now but I gotta do plugs and wires.
A Dodge????!!! NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! J/k... Not really...yeah, J/K. It'll be fine 'till you gotta rob a bank to buy parts. Congrats bro. What toy did we decide on? Still a 740?
Shall have to wait and see. I am on my way out the door to get the truck parts and window fixed then go get the toy. Also gotta stop at teh Uhaul place and stuffs too,
Nice truck Bill... Back when I was in HS I really wanted one of 'em. One of the better looking trucks of the last 20 years IMO.
A few years ago I was in need of a 4-door pick up truck. I was buying new so I shopped everywhere-Dodge, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc. I wound up buy a brand new Dodge RAM 1500 4-Door because it drove like a Cadillac. Plus I'm 6'4" and the Dodge cab is huge. As much as I'm a Ford guy in my opinion the Dodge truck in the same exact price range goes to Dodge. The only problem with the Dodge vs. Ford is the depreciation value is horrible with a Dodge product over Ford. Good purchase. New seats and few other things and it'll run forever.
Dodge with a 318? Eh, throw an intake gasket set at the motor and have fun changing the cap, rotor, and plug wires. Those damned 5.2 and 5.9 Magnums last forever, everything on them is stupid-easy to fix, you can do a water pump on them in about an hour after you've done one the first time. The transmission... well, just change that fluid every 30,000 if you're towing with it at all, and buy a bigger transmission cooler. If you want to save money over the ATF+4, use DexronIII with the LubeGuard additive that's designed to make Dexron III meet the requirements of "highly friction modified" fluids. Did that in my Dodge at 50k, no problems when I traded it in at 91k two fluid changes later. The rear end? No problems there, those Danas are tough as ****. I still miss my 2003 Ram quadcab, never should've traded it in. Best pulling vehicle I've ever owned, I used it harder than most 3/4-ton owners use their trucks. Those older Rams like the one you've got are what made me fall in love with them. The first one I worked on was a lot like the one you bought, but was blue in color, I couldn't believe how well it rode and drove, nor the amount of power for a 318, I knew then I'd own a Ram eventually.
Yeah I think I gotta do intake gaskets. Did new plugs/wires/cap/rotor and still havea number 1 missfire. Idles kinda rough but drives well.
i am soooo disappointed in you bill. here i was hoping for a good bill story, and i get nothing but "it just needs plugs and wires and it is perfect" bravo sierra.
