i know this was posted not to long ago. but i want to move my battery to the back hatch so i can fit an optima yellow top. is there any other reasons to do this? what are the benefits? how do you do it?

There are battery relocation kits that you can buy. There is a fairly large weight transfer gain when you do this because you take the heavy batter off the front end and put it over the rear wheels where you need it the most. (for traction)

Supposidly it is equivilant to moving the engine back 2-3 inches due to the leverage that you gain. On the Mustang being so rear light, this can really help. I am not sure how true it is but that is what I have read. Another thing is by placing it behind the rear passenger it also helps plant the tire which lifts up due to the way the torque of the engine twists the rear.

i always thought the driver side rear was the one to lift..... hence why some run an air bag in that spring.

so where should it be mounted in the back? Drivers side? Passenger Side? in the Middle?

also you have to tear up the carpet and might have more problems with the batt later on down the road. but it is worth it IMO..

On an open diff, the passenger tire is always the one that lights up. I always have been told that is the one that "lifts" so it needs the weight on it due to the engine torquing the axle that way.

If anything get something enclosed. It really keeps things clean and other stuff away from the battery.
