I just took delivery of a 2007 Redfire GT Convertible with the factory Sirius option. For those who haven't seen them, the Sirius antenna is a black plastic blob about half the size of a computer mouse that sits exactly in the middle of the trunk lid. So I have a nice red flat trunk lid with this "thing" sitting there. Looking at it I'm wondering why I couldn't either have it painted to match or just painted a close to the car shade of non-metallic red so that it is less obtrusive sitting there on the trunk lid. The obvious question is whether painting the antenna will negatively affect the reception. Any thoughts?
Why not relocate it to the interior? I know on a convertible it may be a little harder than a coupe but it would sure look cleaner!
put it under the front cowl if you can, this is what i did on my 04 but i dont know if it will work on a 07
It's on the trunk lid and because Ford saw fit to drill a mounting hole in the trunk, that's where it's going to stay. Again I'll ask the question: Any thoughts on whether painting the black factory Sirius radio antanna will adversely effect reception?
i dont think it will affect it because i have one in my fox, and the window is "blocking it" but it still gets good reception. I would say try using nail polish and if it does not get reception use nail polish remover lol. i have no idea how i thought about that by the way. And they drilled a hole? wtf
