Verizon Wireless does what I need it for; to place phone calls and text messaging service.

ATT for years, works great in the SE part of the country. I have an iPhone, and my wife has a BB Pearl w/ no data. ATT has a tower in my neighbors pasture back home, in rural La so I get 5 bars all the time. Too bad it isn't 3G :(

I have a Verizon BB Curve for work and it works great too. No coverage back home in rural La, but that's ok, it's my work phone :D

I would recommend either, just see what works best in YOUR area. Take advantage of the 30 day trial. If you want to change your number, get a google voice number and fwd to your new cell. Never have to change your number again

I have an iPhone with AT&T. In fact this post was done with it. I like the phone and their service fine however I get dropped quite a bit when I call my parents who also use AT&T cellphones. The service in their area sucks. I will probably drop my iPhone soon to save money until I find a new job.

Find what has the best service in your area first. Verizon has been great for me, customer service is amazing and the overall performance of the network is good. I just wish they had better smartphones.

Had Alltel and loved them. Verizon bought them and their customer service pisses me off but the coverage is the best. One thing about Verizon is they have the largest coverage by a large margine. I would go AT&T if they had better coverage here and didnt want to charge me a huge security deposit.

When Verizon took over my contract with Alltel was just ending. I had to resign for $5 more a month for 50 less minutes and lost my unlimited text. :( They then screwed me over on my phone upgrade. But again, their coverage is the best and its the only chance I have of making a phone call out here in BFE.

Have AT&T with the iPhone. Service is excellent here and I have 3G 95% of places in the area. It's extremely rare that I drop a call.

Every area is different. Usually either AT&T and Verizon are going to be about the best, coveragewise.

I only drop calls in the hills... happens on my iPhone and BB (VZW) in nearly the same places. Other then that, never had dropped calls on either phone.

i had Verizon years ago for personal use. they started charging me for things i didn't order. i promptly dropped them.

i now have AT&T with an iPhone. i get 5 bars of blazing fast 3G at home and a good 3G signal most everywhere except out in the country. never have had a dropped call on the iPhone yet. the only real issue with AT&T is if you want data in a spot that doesn't have 3G.

I have Verizon for my work phone. about once a month, it goes 2-6 hours without service.

AT&T's 3G blows Verizons away where you can get it, but Verizon has far more coverage. Verizon's 3G data is limited to 500kps where i've gotten 2.0Mps with my iPhone.

I don't know about that... we get over 1Mbps on our air VZW aircards. I would say the speeds are about equal.

You mention no data w/o 3G... what about the millions of users, for an entire YEAR, that used the first gen iPhone on edge? We had data. It wasn't too bad IMO

I think that once you get used to having 3G, when you find yourself stuck with Edge outside of a 3G area, data seems useless. When Edge was all we had, it was fine. Just like dial-up.

I dunno much about Verizon's speeds anymore, but is it possible that their phones' bandwidth is limited, but not their aircards?
