Nothing new but after going for the drag wheel/tire combo for the track (boy I hate changing those 3" stud F'ing fronts), I decided to stay as stock looking as possible for the street . I wanted slightly staggered meats, nothing that would catch the eye, so quite a few guys recommended the 285/40/17 but nobody had any good pics with the new style GS-D3's that look like F1 intermediate tires, on the stock 17" svt wheels. I couldn't get the original tread style without paying more than the newer replacement tread pattern, which I could get at Discount pretty darn cheap, so I gave up on the exact stock tire pattern and decided to try the new pattern. The local Goodyear told me they could sell them but could not mount them because 285/40/17's call for a 10" wheel, when I called them for a price. I mounted them myself without any issues and am very happy with the results both look and feel. The side walls from the different models are almost identical, with the backs coming out about a 1/2" from the rim bead (about 1" total extra width). I'm probably the only one that notices the block type tread on the fronts don't match the F1 intermediate tread pattern on the back. Most people only see my car from the rear, so I guess I should let it go.

    Comments?

your a noobie here, everybody is mostly sick of seeing my car around here, but I have a few people at work that peek in now and then and like to point and say they have been in that car. Thanks, good luck with your new forum!

almost, I actually showed up in Jan, month after I got my car and got some good info and advice here from the likes of uncle meat and a bunch of others while working on my car over the winter. sometime in march this site crashed and didn't have a very current backup and a mess of us had to re-register.

    :stick: no jab intended.

I'm looking at your pic...did you take your IRS out or is that exhaust bend that far back around the IRS? Just curious...

Or none of the above and it's just camera angle.

    LOL

the exhaust pipes for a IRS need to come together like that in the center because the independent axles can drop and bounce up separately so they can not be attached to the axles (obviously) and they can not routed above because there is not enough clearance for both the pipe and the axle travel.
All aftermarket IRS exhaust pinch in at the center like that, obscuring the diff cover somewhat, the neat thing about the 3" set I went with, I have no less ground or body clearance, than I had with the stock exhaust. Magic, no but you pay for the neat stuff!
My picture lighting was intended to hide some parts, that has something to do with what you are or are not seeing as well. So watcha think, did the picture come out OK?

That is reaking of cobra goodness...dripping with excitment. After viewing it last night I crawled under my 04 to take a look...LOL

    :flag:
I realized the IRS thing...I was just curious about the layout of the bent pipe...I mean stock is behind it....yours is in front! LOL nice ;)

I wonder if my magnaflow will present the bends in back of the IRS as well...hmmmmm

[IMG] Yeh that's what mine looks like except I have 10.5" wheels. The 285's fill my wheels up perfectly to the rim and the Eagle F1's have the protective lip to keep from getting curb rash! Rock on!!!
