pilot bearing *help

i searched. most were about trying to get it out.

i got it in but cant get it flush. sob just wont go and its just a pinch more. :notnice: im using a socket and hammer btw. how can i get it in w/out doing damage to the bearing. i feel like i messed it up already.

Fill it up inside or behind the bearing with grease...find something the same size as the i.d. of the bearing and drive it in the a hammer....remove fill with grease & repeat...the compesssion of the grease will force it out...
 
Just for future reference, Advance rents a great tool for removing the pilot bearing. It grips in like a slide hammer and has an assembly that pushes on the flywheel to extract the bearing. It's way easier than the grease and hammer method, and it costs you nothing to rent it. You get your deposit back when you return it.
