ok i have a set of .030 over pistons w/rods assembled from a 84 302 i tore apart a few years ago. i have a 88 block that needs bored that i want to install them in.

question is do i need to balance the 84 piston/rod assemblies for the 88 crank or should they be both the same and bolt right in? bearing tolerances are within specs so the crank doesnt need reground.

thanks for the help.

I agree whole-heartedly with "JC" there. That's just a personal choice really. These things aren't balanced at the factory nor any other time after the design and fabrication tooling is all done. It's all just plug and play. If you really want a nice tight, long living motor or are going to really push her horsepower and RPM limits..........you NEED to balance her out.
