Yeah, while he is still alive, I am trying to find a photo of the Ford 'NAAO' building that used to be on Rotunda. He worked for 30 years at Ford and I would love to give him this gift. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for the post. However, my father worked in the NAAO building that was torn down sometime in the late 90's......

What about a contact at Ford, or the public records for Wayne county???

He said it was a building that was torn down. Besides.... if you can't snap a pic of some Hooters girls, what makes you think you can snap one of a building!?!

Yeah, I believe it was torn down. I used to live in Livonia, but now live in West Virginia... Otherwise, I'd do it myself. I'm guessing I'll just have to do some detective work.

Are there any Ford employees on this website that might be able to help?

I signed up for the forums at www.blueovalnews.com, would it be a good idea to try there?

Not sure if this would have it on there or not, but the bio for this dvd says this
"The 1954 film begins in glorious color with visitors at the Ford Rotunda showplace in Dearborn tour the big Rouge plant Ford assembly line"

Thanks for your help so far. The River Rouge plant was a factory... My father worked in the NAAO building. It was a a 5 story building that was right across from the proving grounds on the corner of Southfield Freeway and Rotunda.

I believe it was: North American Automotive Operations.

They ordered the parts for the factories... I think...

I may have it. Not a very god picture though. It looks like it, but I'm not sure... The description is corner of Rotunda and Southfield. Anyone familiar with that building? You probably drove by it every day if you lived in that area. :)

More news. I believe the correct term for the building was QMP. Quality, maintenence, purchase...

If what I found it correct, they planted 5 million sunflowers in the land in 2003... Hope that helps.

Yep. I contacted the guy who wrote the story you found. He already emailed back:

"Greg, I'm in Sarasota for a couple of weeks, so won't be able to look into this until I get home.

Yes, the Ford Division building later was called the NAAO Building after Ford Div. moved down to RenCen on the Detroit waterfront around 1979 (a building complex sold to GM in
1999). The pic of the Ford Div. building must have been one from my
book, "Ford Dynasty: A Photographic History," Arcadia Publishing, 2002. I worked in the building my first summer with the company, 1960, on loan to Ford Division from Staff to write the press packet for the 1961 Ford trucks. It was sad to see it torn down. Your Dad and I must have crossed paths during my 1960-85 stint with Ford."

    This is getting interesting!
