  1. I would say grab a 65MM TB off an explorer. If however you have a stock intake that is going to be a choke point. as it is the same 55MM size as the stock TB. The Explorer intake is spaced the same as the TB- 65MM.

    Also, if you have a 73MM MAF, I am guessing it's a C&L. Pure garbage IMO. Get a junkyard 70MM from a 94-95 GT or a Pro M.

  2. The negatives of UD pulleys in my case are offset by 3G alt and big ass AL rad and elec fan to keep things cool. The UD pulleys do more for you at higher rpms which is where we need to be for any decent power out of these things anyway.

  3. I like the stock intkae tube though :(
Got it off ebay to replace the open cone K&N (crap) that the po put on. Came with a C&L 73 unbeknownst to me at the time of sale :)

Is all that worth it.. going to a 65 setup??

  4. I wouldn't do it with a stock intake. Waste of time IMO.

  5. Its the explorer intake

  6. It all boils down to vehicle use really. A guy that drives on the highway 20 + miles a day to work and goes to the track once a season prob wouldn't want 4.10 or even the beloved 3.73. I think if I had a 6th gear I'd like the 3.73's more

  7. A minor bolt on 3.73 will almost always outrun and equally modded car with a 3.08, 3.27, 2.73 gears provided you have decent driving skills. Add traction to the equation from better tires and it's an easy win.

Most of you guys may not be old enough, but in the early 90's, it wasn't unheard of to have 10+ friends local (local as in your own town or an adjacent one) with 5.0 mustangs. All daily drivers, all people that couldn't afford anymore than a catback, h pipe, headers, gears and underdrive pulleys.
I can say for sure from experience as guys added 3.73's their cars were faster.

  8. they thought they were faster because they could spin the tires longer

  9. So basically from what I am reading we should all have kept our Mustangs stock, because none of the basic bolt-on's are worth it. The only reason to modify the Mustang from stock and make it "worth it" is if it is going to be a drag only or road race only car. This is just plain stupid. A person has to start somewhere, and if it is not gears, it is going to be a CAI or throttle body, or underdrive pulleys. You have to start somewhere folks, and a lot of times the starting point is determined by money available and what the individual wants, if it is worth it or not is a moot point.

  19. Because everyone's quest in their 80s designed boxy-ass car with a truck engine is Mpgs. So yeah, gears help but unless you're building a funny car don't get carried away with gears. And NEVER go steeper than a 4.10
