ported E7TE vs GT40x

i was reading on another boards and this guy said

"My stock heads that i home ported out flowed GT-40 X heads.which is plenty suffient for a mild build up"

is that true? looking at the chart below, int flows 32% better and exh flows 45% better.

I'm not trying to start a flame war with Thumper because I think Mike is an alright guy. Thumper is a professional and he doesn't even claim numbers that outflow an X head. I think he only claims that he can get a peak cfm of about 213, which is short of the X heads capabilities. Tell that guy he is an idiot.

The second I find someone with a flowbench, I would love to see how much my home ported E7's will flow.

Fitted with swirl polished 1.94valves and 1.60exhaust, 67cc combustion chambers and .600lift springs.

I need to find the exhaust and intake CC next.

Gonna put these heads on the turbo notch we have in the back and see what she does with "stock" heads and stock cam. Hopefully dip into high 10's.

you can match stock gt40X heads with ported and polished e7s with 1.90/ 160 valves

but you can see why gt40 Ps are better than both with their low lift numbers, small ports and high velocity. a stage 1 will have about 155-160cc intake runners.

seen above..here are a few different flows for the X heads... I guess the numbers I used on my site were of the conservative type!! But It really takes some good work in the bowls to get the 219 cfm on a stock valve, the exhaust is easier...actually to get the 155+ and If your using a die grinder and cutters... a good home port can get at least 180+ intake!! So dont be too quick to dis on a set of ported heads...cool?? Like we have always said, though... "what is Ported"?? To some, removing the EGR bump is ported ... matching the gaskets is ported, smoothing the bowls is ported...see??? Cool?? the E7s are 50 lbs, the GT40s are 55 lbs and the X are?? 40 lbs?? and that is worth something... but, yeah... E7s can be ported to out flow GT40X, and Darts, and a few more...

Killer... and we all know the better the base head... the better the flow potential from Porting. Also the cost of the work vs the cost of a set already out of the box , I think a while back some one said... "if your going aftermarket... just get AFRs and be done with it." Cool?? But I believe the question posted was could ported heads flow better than the Xs and I think we tried to answer his question...???

Most roller cams are around .500-.545 lift. After the cam lift the additional flow isn't needed. Most roller hydraulic cams stop HP at or about 6200 RPM. NOS is all exhaust friendly and flow figures aren't that critical, as the NOS is in effect a supercharger. The low lift flow numbers are the torque builders. The faster the air starts flowing at extremely low valve lift is the key to filling the chambers. A correct 5 angle valve job, and bowl work (smoothing and blending) are far more critical than high flow numbers on a 6000 RPM small cubic inch engine.
