found a set of complete pro comp cylinder heads for sbf on ebay, new. buy it now price of $669 with $55 shipping! i called pro comp and a distributor of theirs and asked if i can bolt this head on using stock pistons/bottom end . they said yes. one guy said yes no problem, the other guy said yes but clay it. he also said if i kept a mild cam ( like the small TFS ) that i would not have a piston to valve prob. is this true? i always thought anything much more than a 1.94 valve is too much on stock pistons?

It all depends on the location of the valve in the chamber. Everyone knows that you can run a TW head with a 2.02" valve because of the way the valves are rotated in the combustion chamber, but you can also run a set of holley heads with the 2.02" valve on a stock shortblock, and their valves are in the same location as the stockers. The difference is the holley has their valves recessed up into the chamber moreso than the stock design. It does limit you on cam choise, but they will work. I don't know about the pro-comps and if they'll fit. I also don't know much about the in general, but from the very few threads I had read on them over on hardcore50 I don't think I'd run them on my car but I didn't read much. You will definitely want to research these heads a lot more before you buy them. Good luck!

thanks for info. i thought you could run the TFS heads like you said, but couldnt give myself the explantion why. now i know- valve placement. im very hesistant on these heads like you. they are slightly out of my price range anyway but i was just curious about them for the money.

so with the thumper heads, that shouldnt even be a concern as far as ptv clearance goes running a tfs2000 on stock pistons?

    thanks!
