So what company sells a quality quarter panel. I'm looking for a panel that isn't too flimsy and most importantly fits well. I called around to different suppliers and they all carry different brands.

Year One - Dynacore
Mustang Unlimited - Classic reproduction
Cj Pony Parts - Jessie Lee - made overseas
NPD - Golden Legen - made overseas

Anyone have any experiance with any of these brands?

Thanks,

Mario

Look for "Made with Ford Tooling" quarters

There are certainly "cheaper" quarters but any saving evaporates quickly in the increased cost of labor. Several of the vendors offer them. Check your catalogs. Replacing a quarter properly is challenging even for the experienced.

Wow SuperDave is back. Good to hear from you, haven't seen you around in a long time.

I was thinking about the Ford Tooling quarter, but I have to find a vendor that carries that brand. I am unsure about using the quarter from NPD, because they said it was made overseas. I remember when oversea repo parts were absolute junk.

I saw a Dynacorn Camaro that was completely put together as a running car at the SEMA show. I felt they would have been better off displaying it with the doors and trunk lid on it because they fit like $hit. Pardon my French, but if I were them I would have been embarrassed by the way the panels fit. I know it is a first effort and a new direction for the restoration industry, but they still have a ways to go. I have no idea how the Dynacorn Mustang panels fit at this time, I did ask if they were working on a Fastback shell and the guy in their booth didn't seem to know anything about it.

I use parts from 3 of your listed suppliers quite often, and have found that NPD's sheetmetal parts have fit the best more times than not. I used their full quarter panels on a '67 coupe and the fit and contours were very good. Didn't take near as much work to get right as some lower quarters I got from one of the other companys. Maybe it was just that time, but I ordered a right and a left side and when I got them, they were obviously two different brands because they both were contoured differently, and neither were correct. I've also had good luck with NPD's front fenders, while I've seen problems with some from one of the other companys. That said, I almost think that ordering sheetmetal parts is a crapshoot. I've seen good AND bad parts come from the same place.

So what companies did you guys use when you replaced the quarters, and how did they fit?

Thanks,

Mario

Mine came from Mustangs Unlimited

the fit was pretty good. The doors from NPD were junk.

I don't think these projects are ever done

I wonder if the project is done considering this thread was 3 years old!

Well I put it on the road this summer and got about 350 miles on it, now I am working out all of the bugs and finishing up a few things this winter. As far as the original post I don't even remember what company I got the panel from, however it did fit fairly well.

Here's what I started with :

New panel attached and primed:

Car painted, sorry I don't have a finished picture of the quarter panel right now.

Um, you folks know that NPD and MU don't actually make the sheetmetal, right? They sell the products of such makers as Dynacorn, Carpenter, and American Designers.

As for full OEM style quarters, not "skins", Dynacorn is the only real supplier. They do not sell directly to the public, you need to get them from a retailer. That's where Glazier Nolan, NPD, and MU come in.
