So as the title stated, I have a '99 cobra with an ATI Procharger. When I bought it the sound system (stock at the time) had a clicking noise in it, Long story short I solved the problem by replacing the race spark plugs with factory plugs gapped at factory spacing. I believe I may have lost a little power by doing this, What plugs would you reccomend (That dont tax my stock coil packs too much and cause the sterio noise.) Also, what should I gap them at? Thanks!
I'd recommend something one or two heat ranges cooler than stock. I run a regular old Champion plug. The gap will depend on a couple of things. Obviously a larger gap will cause a larger strain on your ignition system, but it also provides a better spark. Of course as soon as you add compression (e.g. supercharger) you'll want to start drawing down the gap. Going too large is ungood, going too small is ungood. I'd say .035 is a good place to begin experimenting.
Well obviously it will depend on what sort of plug you intend to use. Platinum, iridium, copper, etc... The stock plug from Champion is RS12YC. The 12 is the heat range, so you'd want to go with an 11 or 10. This roughly equates to a 7 for Bosch, 20 Denso, and 6 NGK.
NGK TR6's. Gap them at .032-.035. Very popular plug. They are one range cooler than stock and excellent for a power adder car. -Mark
