I am looking to replace the power steering hose that comes out of the pump and down to the rack with a stainless braided piece. The factory hose has a metal 90 degree bend in the first six inches that routes the hose up and forward.

Would there be a problem with running a hose directly down from the pump and eliminating the metal bend?

It doesn't sound like there would be a problem with that. A custom fitting shop can make that for you....bring them the old hose. We had custom diesel fuel lines made for a big machine we move cars with at work. They were like 57 dollars...better than 200 the manufacturer wanted!!
