I am keeping the money I get for the car wreck. I am keeping about a third of it and buying my son a nice gift for his birthday and the wife something. The rest will go in the bank.

Also, I am treating myself to either my first tattoo or my first left handed rifle. I think the remington 710 comes in a lefty .270. I'm about to go look at rifles and later my buddy and I are going to talk to his tattoo artist. The guy is supposedly a state champion.
I want a cross on the forearm with my father and son's name or initials below with a reddish or orange background behind it

It's one or the other and both will be about 200 to 350 depending on a new or used rifle or a friend discount on the tattoo.

So which would you get and why?

I'd say rifle, but it depends on what you want. Weigh the pros and cons of each.

Have you seen the price of college lately?
IMHO, put as much as you can into the bank.
Otherwise, by a rifle. At least then in the future, you could sell the rifle to pay for 1/10th the price of a single college book!

rifle by a long shot! (no pun intended)

the rifle you can use fairly often, whereas a tattoo you cant really "use" and, to others, it's only a thing to see once, then it's just nothing you notice. i also agree that a tattoo is something you will regret later in life, and i have no intentions to ever have one....

The tattoo will never enable you to defend your family or put food on the table. You also will never be able to recoup any of the purchase price of the tattoo.

Neither are particularly great investments. Put the money into your house payment?

I dunno...rifles are cool and can kill things but tattoos are cooler than rifles IMO. Now, maybe a nice new handgun or something...

    I have a .45, a .40, and a .22 pistol. I have a 12 gauge single shot and two 410's. I have an SKS, a 30-30 lever, and a .22

    I think that's it.

I really want a tattoo too... And I don't believe in regrets. besides its a religious symbol

yea i always have and right handed rifles spit brass in my face :(

no different then sticking needles in your ears and hanging ornamental crosses from them. bible also says for men not to have long hair or women not to have short hair or something. it says not to go in church without a hat... not to work on the sabbath which is saturday not sunday. I can go on
