As we inch closer to the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary, we see the entire scene of rumor mills and the aftermarket start to buzz up with 2014 Mustang details. The latest scoop of the week is the official announcement (and details surrounding) the hot 2014 ROUSH Mustang lineup. The RS, Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 Mustangs will take the field by storm by starting with a new 2014 Mustang and massaging them as is desired by customers into ROUSH Performance creations, backed by warranty, and produced by quality craftsmen.
ROUSH’s 5.0-liter Mustangs which receive the R2300 ROUSHcharger setup are going to pump out a staggering 575hp and 505 lb-ft of torque…more than enough to get the rubber transformed into powder on the pavement. That being said, this latest round of ROUSHs is going to also maximize efficiencies, reduce weight, and make the experience one that is totally drivable and durable, regardless of being at the track or on the street. The crew at ROUSH has also upped the ante this time around by included 2 new options for customers to include: an optional X-Brace for increased body rigidity and also a rear seat delete.
Also, as is customary with all late model ROUSH Mustang instances, expect to see the 5-spoke, chromed signature wheels, wrapped with beefy Cooper RS3 rubber. Add in some awesome new looks with the aero body package, lots of graphics colors to pick from, and there should not be anyone out there that says “I just don’t like my ROUSH.”.
Keep reading to get the entire story on what to expect from the 2014 Mustang a la ROUSH.

THE 2014 ROUSH MUSTANG Lineup (RS, Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3)
PLYMOUTH, Mich. (March 11th, 2013) – ROUSH Performance is excited to introduce the 2014 ROUSH Mustang Lineup with 4 unique performers, the RS, Stage 1, Stage 2, and the flagship Stage 3. Each car begins life as a 2014 Ford Mustang and is transformed by the craftsmen at the ROUSH Performance Speed Shop in Plymouth, Michigan.
The Stage 3 leads the pack of the ROUSH Mustangs. Building on the styling of the Stage 1 and the handling of the Stage 2, the Stage 3 Mustang adds its own four-lobe twist with a ROUSHcharged powertrain. 2014 brings an updated Phase 1 powertrain to the Stage 3.
Force feeding air into the 5.0L engine and pumping out a massive 575 hp and 505 lb-ft of torque is ROUSH’s R2300 ROUSHcharger featuring Eaton’s® TVS (Twin Vortices Series) patented technology. The TVS design delivers greatly enhanced thermal efficiency, produces higher volumetric capacity, and enables higher supercharger RPM’s; all of which equate to more power and better fuel efficiency in a smaller, lighter package. ROUSH powertrain engineers calibrated the new Stage 3 to be the perfect balance of power, drivability and durability. “This year we also teamed with Ford Racing to offer their Aluminator engine as an option.” States Tim Wheeler, Vice President of ROUSH Performance. “With forged engine components for added strength, the Aluminator is a great option for those who might want to take their Stage 3 to the next level down the road. The Aluminator is the perfect building block for the 620hp Phase 2 and a 675hp Phase 3 upgrade kits that we offer through the ROUSH Performance catalog and authorized ROUSH Performance parts dealers.”
But what good is all of that power if you can’t put it down on the street or track? New for 2014 is the optional X-Brace and rear seat delete. The X-Brace helps provide additional rear structural rigidity and is available across the ROUSH Mustang lineup. In addition the Stage 2 and Stage 3 packages receive a race inspired suspension that greatly improves handling, allowing the Stage 2 and Stage 3 Mustangs to pull over 1g of lateral acceleration on the skid pad. A big part of this handling package is the 18-inch by 10-inch cast aluminum, five spoke, chrome ROUSH wheels – wrapped in the ROUSH/Cooper (co-developed) RS3 ultra high-performance tire. The suspension system consists of a larger, stiffer front stabilizer bar to reduce body roll and provide balanced, neutral handling. It also includes the exclusive ROUSH designed anti-wheel hop kit, twin-tube shocks with unique valving, increased spring rates as well as upgraded bushings and jounce bumpers. ROUSH chassis engineers spent thousands of hours of track testing to create the perfect set up to aid in acceleration, cornering, stopping and ride quality.
To give the 2014 ROUSH Mustangs a more aggressive look, all of the Stages 1, 2 and 3 platforms receive the ROUSH designed R6 aero body package. The ROUSH sixth generation aero body package incorporates a unique high-flow upper grille, high-flow lower opening (grille eliminator), corner fascia aero pockets with driving lamps and front chin splitter. New for 2014 is the optional horizontal bar lower grille that is styled to match the upper high-flow grille. The unique ROUSH hood scoop is included on the Stage 3 and is available as an option on the Stage 1 and 2. All of the Stage Mustangs receive the rear rocker panel and rear fascia side splitters, a three-piece rear decklid spoiler, ROUSH rear aero valance featuring race-inspired diffusers, and is finished off with integrated dual chambered, chrome exhaust tips.
New for 2014 is the addition of Magnum Grey, Mat it Mango, Launch it Lemon, Marina Blue and Punch it Purple to the Stage 3 graphic color lineup. Along with the addition of new graphics colors, a new full body paint option is now available on all Stage 3. “The 2014 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang is not only the best performing Mustangs to come out of our shop, it is one of the most customizable” states Tim Wheeler. “We’ve added new graphic colors to the Stage 3, a full body paint option, a new 20″ wheel design and not to mention other options like the Aluminator engine. It is easier than ever to personalize and build a truly unique Stage 3 that is sure to stand out in any crowd.”
Inside the Stage 3 you get a custom gauge cluster, ROUSH embroidered floor mats, a ROUSH center console button and a Stage 3 dash medallion. All Stage Mustangs receive ROUSH badging throughout and a serialized engine bay plaque. To further customize your ROUSH Stage Mustang there are several exterior, interior and chassis options available including rear quarter window louvers and two optional Stage 3 Interior Packages consisting of “ROUSH” embroidered GT charcoal leather seating or “Stage 3″ embroidered leather seating with suede inserts, suede door panels and a suede shift boot all with highlight stitching. There is also a vent gauge pod with LED boost gauge and a convertible light bar just to name a few. Some chassis options include three 20-inch wheels choices with new graphite wheel for 2014, four different brake packages, ROUSH laser cut hood struts and red or black ROUSH engine coil covers. Additionally, the ROUSH dual chamber off-road exhaust system is sure to put a grin on your face and let everyone else know to get out of your way.
Also returning to the ROUSH Mustang Lineup for 2014 is the six cylinders ROUSH RS. With 305 horsepower the RS still packs quite the punch. The base RS package offers many upgrades, including premium 18” painted aluminum wheels with performance tires, ROUSH lowering springs and a unique areo body kit that is distinctly ROUSH. The combination of ROUSH styling and handling with up to 31 mpg on the highway, makes the RS is a great choice for those looking to get a fun, sporty car that can also double as a practical daily driver.
All 2014 ROUSH “Stage” Mustangs are available in both coupe and convertible chassis and both manual and automatic transmissions. They are covered by ROUSH’s 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. The 2014 ROUSH Mustangs are available now!!
