So I'm getting ready to grill some steaks for Super Bowl Sunday. I light the grill and walk away to retrieve the steaks. When I return the grill upper body is in flames.

Turns out there is a recall on the grill. Injuries reported and 40 fires reported. I will be making a phone call tomorrow for a resolution to the recall. It's a Flame Master sold from Lowes, so there may be some of you that have bought one of these.

I tell you all of this just to make you aware that if you have a product with an issue, check to see if there are any safety recalls before you spend any money in repairs.

Yet another reason to just buy a weber and have a great grill for the rest of your life

Yup, have one of those Weber grill/smoker combos sitting on the porch as well. I use it mostly for smoking though. I will probably use the Flame Master until it rust into the ground (probably next year) then use the Weber more often.

There have actually been reports of the aluminum/magnesium alloy lids catching fire. That's some serious sheet right there.

Holy Crap. The top of the grill is flamable? Priceless.

"Let me tell you something"! I introduced my 6 year old to Fire Marshal Bill and he watches those episodes on YouTube all the time. This weekend Ace Ventura was on and he called me over and said "Dad, Fire Marshal Bill is in the movie". He wound up loving Ace Ventura too.

After calling the toll free number, I received an e-mail today from the manufacturer. It had a PDF form attached for me to fill out and e-mail back. I should be getting the replacements parts soon

    Charcoal > gas

Real men need 4 grills. Two webers, a Big Green Egg, and a coleman smoker. I'll have to show you all some pics of my dad's set up. He's got 2 webers mounted to on a table made out of cedar with a workstation in the middle. Currently he's working on a contraption to make the grate rotate. When grilling on a Weber you should only have coals on 1/2 of the bottom so you have a hot side and a cool side of the grill. The idea of the rotating grate is to allow the food to evenly cook...

Anywho, good luck fixing that... crazy that it caught on fire.
