I wouldn't do it. Sounds like one of those scams where the guy takes some money up front and never returns to complete the job.
It's not really a scam. They are just guys trying to make money if you're roof has been damaged. Lots of people don't know that their roofs are damaged if they aren't leaking. I wouldn't go with a door to door person. I'm waiting for a storm to take my roof. Not sure how much your insurance will go up. Kurt
I had them show up in my neighborhood a few years ago. I came home and this guy was in my yard with a clipboard walking around looking at my house. I asked him what's up, and said my house had hail damage. At the time my house was only a few years old, and he was trying to point out a little dent in the siding. I said I had bigger dents from my neighbors kid hitting my house with a golf club. Anyway he was very persistant in wanting me to file a claim for a dent. I told him to leave. A few of my neighbors did re-side thier houses and roofs but I felt it was an insurance scam. Two days later someone else showed up and tried the same thing. Now that my house is 13yrs old, I'd do it...
