sensor?

i have an 96 explorer 5.0 ok. when i bought this motor it had the intake tube with it and the air temp sensor(?) was in it. so ive been thinkin about buying a CAI for some eye candy and ive noticed theres no place to put this sensor on the tube. so.........where is it on a stang? is it even needed? thanx
