Should 99 Mustang Hold Fuel Pressure When Off?

Discussion in 'SN95 V6 Mustang Tech' started by NateM, Jun 10, 2013.

  1. I have been experiencing rough starting. My fuel pressure drops soon after turning the car off. Is this normal in a 99 mustang v6?
  2. IDK about holding pressure when off, but on my 96, I hear the fuel pump run momentarily and switch off after turning the ignition switch to ON prior to cranking. Pressure at the fuel rail for the '99 should be 35-50psi with the engine running and 25-40psi with the key on/engine off. If gauges show these in specs, your problem is likely elsewhere.
  3. are you dxperiencing problems or just asking a general q?
  4. When measuring the pressure in my 99 stang, it drops down to zero pressure 1-2 minutes after shutting off car. Is this a problem or normal. It runs around 30-32 psi.
  5. I answered my question with a new motorcraft pump in my car. No longer drops pressure. It appears as though this is not normal afterall.
