Should I remove my timing adjuster?

My Cobra has a Steeda timing adjuster that was installed by the PO. When I asked him how to set it he said he didn't know. When I drive the car I may/may not be hearing some pinging (might just be valvetrain noise from the longtubes, not sure). I swear though that it sounded like it got better when I turned off the traction control, since afaik the TC works by changing the timing on the engine I was thinking it would be better just to toss the adjuster. What do you guys think? Plus if I do, what do I plug the plug back into that is hooked up to the hall sensor now?
